    National Rugby League - 2012

Good move by the NRL Commission yesterday to scrap the existing final 8 system in favour of the one currently used in the AFL.

Previously it was 1v8, 2v7, 3v6 & 4v5 in the first week of the finals with the 2 lowest ranked losers being eliminated in the first week of the finals (potential for teams 3 & 4).

After the first week everybody was re ranked, so if you were first & lost, your ranking then slips to 5th (highest first week loser) for the second week & you had to play away.

I think scrapping the McIntyre system is a good move, it just didn't work well, especially if you finished 1st or 2nd, lost the first final & then had to play away the next week (as what happened to Storm in 2008 - lost to the Warriors in the last minute of the first final, then had to play week 2 in Brisbane - which we won in the last 45 seconds!!)

Only 9 more sleeps until Storms first game!!

I will get to a game this year. Never been to one but increasingly growing interest in the game and will try and watch more of it.

Any suggestions from the Storm fixture which game I should get to? In the next couple weeks im thinking and hopefully one with a decent crowd.

I'm actually taking up Rugby League this year. For anyone who has never played I can tell you now that its not the easiest game to pick up defensively. You've always got to be mindful of where you are and whats going on around you. Having said that I'm having fun while I'm learning.

Alexxx, I'd highly recommend the ANZAC Day game against the Warriors. We get our biggest crowds to that game & with the large Kiwi contingent in Melbourne it makes for a very noisy crowd & great atmosphere.

Also V Brisbane Broncos which is the weekend following State of Origin 1 (Wednesday 23rd May at Etihad). It'll probably be the Friday night though & the Bulldogs are playing Geelong at home. I have a big decision to make re. that night!!

Great game by both teams on the weekend, Storm played dry weather footy in a thunderstorm still won, amazing the amount of full sets in that weather.
Billy Slater is unbelievable isnt he!

Could have played AFL, me thinks.

Must be one of those World of Warcraft type things where you just keep going up level after level after level.

Good to get another win on Sunday - Billy played well again. 2 tries, 3 try assists (I'm counting the Rabbitohs 2nd try!!)

Just saw that Storm V Bulldogs (Canterbury) is on at 5.30pm on Saturday 14th April, followed by Bulldogs V Saints at 7.40pm at Etihad. It's going to be a busy night!!

Also, confirmed is Storm V Warriors for ANZAC Day - 7pm at AAMI Park.

Even if you left bang on full time you'd miss the first bounce, but you're right, sounds like an appealing double-header.

Yeah, I'll miss the start of the footy but that's ok.

The NRL needs to fix this poaching stuff, quicker the draft the better.
