    Peter Forrest

He's been super impressive in a form of the game that he hasn't exactly been a star with in the domestic competition.
Has he played his way into the touring squad of the West Indies as a potential Test number 3?

Watched a little of the dwindling pajama game and have to say he looks very organized and has to be a strong chance for the Windies tour.

      I think he has.

Credit has to be given to the selection panel, his one day form didn't warrant selection, but they gave him a chance and he has performed, he has demanded selection for the test squad. Full credit to him.

Agree - he has been impressive thus far and should be strongly considered for selection for the WI tour.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

If Australia is to move forward he should replace Ponting.
Ponting playing on now is just stopping the younger ones getting a go.

Give any player 2 years to make a run and he will finally, then use the I told you so excuse?

There was a good discussion on SEN this morning about Forrest. Liam Pickering basically said that Forrest isn't in our best ODI side but he's now right in the mix for Test cricket. I tend to agree that his batting is far better suited to the longer forms of the game.
He's done nothing wrong in the one day games but he's still got to convince a few that he can play both forms of the game.

I understand your point, but surely there's no logic in backing a guy to make runs then dropping him when he does?

                    And they wont now.
He gets another year of freedom.
He should have gone , either dropped or retired after the last ashes series IMO.

Or he could replace Marsh. Seems a bit more common sense.

Probably should get in the squad, but would rather Watson given the number 3 spot.

Surely Ponting has more credits in the bank than 'any player'. Probably our greatest batsman since Bradman. He is currently in our best five batsman in Test cricket no doubt.
Write off a champion at your peril. You are wrong in my opinion.

How much credit do you give is the question, obviously his one day credit has been used up.
I am not debating his history, I am putting forward he is very close to being past what he once was.
There comes a time, it doesnt matter how good you were its whether your still capable of doing it consistently.
His age isnt helping , to be honest to move forward is now the time to start playing Khwaja, Forrest etc.
Get these blokes ready for the next ashes series.
Give them the tour of the Windies, experience playing away.
Keep playing Ponting for what reason?
So he retires just as the Ashes approach?
Credit due in the bowling side of things look whats been found, do it with the batting too.

Because he's in great Test form.
