    Cahill's goal?

For the round ball experts how highlu do you rate Cahills goal? It looked great but I don't follow the game like a lot of you do. Thoughts?

I am also far from soccer expert, but would have thought that to score a goal like that against top opposition on the road means it was was absolutely top shelf

You'll find 90% of players can kick them if the ball bounces like it did for Cahill. Don't get me wrong, the timing of it (89th min) and against one of the best teams in the world(on their day) made it awesome. Everyone loves a scissor kick goal, and under those circumstances i'm struggling to remember a better goal in EPL by an Aussie. What a gun.

It wouldn't matter if this goal was scored in park football it was of the highest quality. Absolute cracker...

Cahill is a marvel at being in the right place at the right time and then having the ability to put the ball in the back of the net, which is rare.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it was a great one but talking to some work colleagues they thought it was just good without being great.

Yeah i thought it was good without being great being a massive soccer fan. No doubt it was an awesome goal because it being a scissor kick and all, but it flicked up for him in a perfect position right in front. To me the best scissor kicks are the ones that have been crossed in e.g Peter Crouch vs Galatasaray and Bolton.

Thats the great thing about Timmy, very clever footballer and he takes his opportunities. Reminds me a bit of Kevin Nolan from Bolton, always in the right place at the right time and therefore scores more goals than he probably should.

I really like his on field aggression and tenacity - he's always after guys, antagonising and getting under their skin

Cahill is a bit of a goal machine for Everton. He is massively important to them and when he is not playing they pretty much rely on Arteta setting up goals from set pieces. He scores goal for Everton that they would not get otherwise. Crucial for Australia as well.

Scotty McDonald scored a sort of semi scissor kick a couple of years back for Motherwell to deny Celtic the championship. Easy to find on You Tube if anyone wants a look.

Putting it in an AFL context it is like scoring a goal whilst facing away from the goal and kicking the ball over your shoulder. Now he's done this without using his hands. Crossed scissor kick goals are great, but I think somewhat easier because you have some degree of flexibility with positioning etc. Cahill made something out of nothing.....was a great, great goal.
