    Re: Bring on the Paralympics

The Aussie Gliders Wheelchair basketball team are currently on ABC2 vs Great Britain. Up 9-4 a few minutes from quarter time.

I must say, the ABC is doing a good job with the coverage so far.

      What's the dribbling rule Andrew?

You're allowed 2 pushes before you have to dribble, shoot or pass. It can be hard to pick up when you're new to the game! Two pushes can get you some distance (if no one's in front of you!)

Up 21-11 late in the second qtr.

Sidenote, special commentary is from Troy Sachs, who almosts singlehandedly won Australia's first basketball gold medal in Atlanta '96. He scored 42 points, which remains the record for an individual in both Olympic and Paralympic games. At the top of his game, Troy was an incredible player.

Funny you say that. I thought it was two, but my girlfriend said "if there's noone blocking you you could almost go the whole way".

It's good viewing. They're so nimble.

You were both right! Good half from the Gliders, kept the Poms to a low score.

Out of interest what other team sports are there in the Paralympics.

If anyone wants to watch uninterrupted coverage, here's a link where you can watch live events, and view them as many times as you want. Good if you like sports like basketball, and they cut away from the game to an interview or something.

They also dribble, stop and dribble again.

The women's V Brazil was pretty good. The Paralympics is getting more airtime than the normal Olympics did in our house. Some of those swimmers go faster with one arm and no legs than I do swimming unchallenged!

Yes, there is no "double dribble" violation. It was talked about some years ago, but never brought in.
