    Nfl season discussion- 2012/13

With the season fast approaching (they are already playing preseason trials), this thread has been opened up to talk all things NFL.

As a massive Pittsburgh Steelers fan, looking forward to another solid season which hopefully will see more post season action.

The season starts Mid September cant wait.

Steelers fan here too...and stories of the new o-lineman STILL having Roethlisberger running for his life (in the pre-season) do not make me smile!
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

I'm mild Packers fan who doesn't usually show interest until play offs. Which is generally each season.

How can any of you call yourself Bulldog supporters? The red, white and blue of the Pats should be enough.

He would then tell me about how as a kid growing up the Niners were the perennial losers and laughing stock of the league.

I hope one day to be able to experience the kind of happiness he felt when his Niners turned into a powerhouse of the NFL during the 80's and 90's.

The two most happiest memories I have of my Dad, came in 81. The first following 'The Catch' by Dwight Clark that resulted in the Niners defeating the Cowboys sending them into the Super Bowl for the very first time. And then at the end of the ensuing Super Bowl victory against Cincinatti.

            Go Niners!

Impossible to barrack for that cheat Bellichick or any number of their smug players. What about the browns? Their mascot is a bulldog and they suck too!

San Fran giving Green Bay a nice little touch up at Lambeau.

Rogers hasn't been able to get anything going against a very strong 49ers defense.

Hold onto your hats sports fans, Cobb for Green Bay just produces a 75yrd punt return to make it a 10 point ball game.

Peterson is amazing. 9 months after a complete recon - 17 carries, 84 yards, 2 tds.

                          Amazing.

Not sure I'm convinced with the NYJ use of Tebow and Sanchez. Sanchez was pretty ordinary today, I'd imagine there will be a fair bit of pressure coming from the Jets fans to start Tebow at QB if current form continues.

Unless you're a huge fan this season... isn't worth watching.
There's a dispute between the Refs and the League, the refs want a huge amount of money and the league won't pay. So the replacements, the league can't go one level down, because the NCAA DIV1 is huge, a bigger competition than anything in Australia, so the refs are really the bottom of the barrel. It's like asking Country Amateur umps to take the AFL here. At least one ref was hired from the Lingerie Football league... it's exactly what it sounds like.
Games are 10% longer, constant near fights between players than they can't control and blown calls everywhere. Today the 9ers got 5 timeouts (2 extra) in the last quarter because they didn't know the rules and the Pats-Ravens game was blatantly decided in favor of the Ravens.
Last week, after a fumble it took 8 minutes between snaps for them to work out what to do before awarding the ball clearly to the wrong team

To make it worse, the NFL apparently didn't screen the refs. At the last minute a ref had to be pulled from a game because a reporter found out he was a die hard fan of the team he was about to officiate, posting about it on his public Facebook page. Another was employed by a team he reffed for and a 3rd told a player to play better because he needed him to do well for his dream team.
