    Sheffield Shield & Offseason

Early start this year to accomodate the BBL, all teams have played at least once. Its the Blues who are the early pacesetters, though all other sides (barring the Warriors) have a game in hand. Have to say things dont seem to have changed much, the Warriors are still incredibly brittle in the top order, the Red Backs look like short form specialists again while the Blues continue to churn out players; Henriques has been the form player so far.

Good signs from the likes of Hughes and Khawaja getting into the runs early in their new colours, Bird has proven he's no one year wonder, Bollinger is too good for this level, as is Patto...should be a great summer.

My early tip is a Bulls/Blues final, best batting lineup versus best bowling lineup. Long way to go though

Marcus North has stepped down as captain of WA and the Scorchers, citing form as the reason ...God knows who replaces him, cupboard couldnt be more bare

Perhaps Pommersbatch. He fits with their culture perfectly.

WA need someone like Andrew McDonald leading their side.

I wonder if the boys misbehaved on Mickey Arthurs watch?

Noticed James Muirhead (ex Altona and discussed in other threads) has been picked in the Vic SS squad for the upcoming game against WA.

            Good luck if selected.

Has had a good start to the year for St Kilda, but I cant help but feel its a tad early based on futures league form. Good luck to the lad though

Vics are 2/193 in Adelaide - Rogers on 90. Handscomb on 29 - and Sheridan, Hussey and White still to come - so a bit of batting there. Good start.

WA - struggling at 5/147 against NSW at Blacktown.

Siddle pulled out to concentrate on India and the Ashes tours. Rogers can still bat, pity he has had a fall out with Test selection, I always thought he was a good prospect

Quiney failed again. Has had. Bad trott since being selected in the test side.

Looks like Sayers finished strongly for SA yesterday afternoon. Looking like an easy win for the Vics though.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Today will be the key day, Vics need 400 on this Adelaide pitch.

Steve O'Keefe with 3 first day wickets doing his chances of an Indian tour no harm as Beer's injured an AC joint

All out for 319. At least gives SA's fairly uninspiring batting line up a chance. Good performance by the SA quicks.
