Re: Ponting retires
20 years at a sport at that level. It's hard to imagine.
I think it's a bit of a sign of the general malaise that cricket is in that Punter is not getting more joy from this send off.
I was sitting with a bunch of blokes, not really mates, and when hearing the retirement on TV, one bloke shouted ' ah who cares'.
I just cringed.
20 years at a sport like he has, incredible achievement. I hope the place is packed out for him in his last game.
Love watching the highlights reel of his catches. So strong in the forearms, cool under pressure. You don't develop courage by being happy in your relationships every day. You develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity. ― EpicurusComment

Re: Ponting retires
I still think he will be remembered properly. One example is the soccer player Zidane when he retired after the 2006 World Cup Final with that head butting incident which now will always be never forgotten with him. Ponting I don't believe had a negative moment that will stick with him."Footscray people are incredible people; so humble. I'm just so happy - ecstatic"Comment

Re: Ponting retires
Hasn't looked it this summer in international play but that is a ridiculous assertion. Perfect time to call an end to a fine career- I'm a visionary - Only here to confirm my biases -Comment
