He still took it right up to a top 10 player. If Hewitt gets a good run with injuries I think he can make it back into the top 20 so as a seed he will get a fairer draw.
Plus you can see that he still loves to compete... You are a long time retired.

I agree. I can't see any reason for Hewitt to retire. He's not the player he was, but opponents have to actually beat him, otherwise he just keeps coming.

If he can stay injury free, who knows?
Can't get pass the first round in any grand slam. His days are numbered.

He is just a typical athlete that doesn't know when to quit. But his record and performance shows otherwise.
So he should quit when you want him to?
Has had a number of injury problems the last 3 or 4 years, but if he can stay injury free he can still play some good tennis and as his ranking improves he will get a draw in grand slams more to his liking.

Its just an opinion nothing more, aren't I allowed to have one.
In my opinion he is no longer good enough to be a contender for any of the grand slams. Yes the last 3 for 4 years he has been injured, he is now 31 years old and can't get pass the first round.

No need to be a smart a#$%& (as usual when I express an opinion that you don't like)

If you'd care to re-read the thread, you'll see I didn't bother replying to you in the first place. But you saw fit to reply to me, and not Mantis (I wonder why that is?). I have given up on addressing you at all, as anytime I ask you a question that goes against what you think (being a smartarse, I guess is what you choose to call it) you don't bother replying.
I was seeking clarification on something you said, as you were contradicting yourself, and you chose to ignore me again. If you regard that as being a smartarse, then the problem is yours not mine.
If you're further dissatisfied with this, just ignore what I have to say, like I ignore what you have to say. Don't feel the need to reply to me when I haven't addressed you at all. Pretty simple really.
Apologies for the threadjack Eastdog. I'd be very happy to go back to discussing the Open.
I don't see why anyone would worry about when an individual who plays an individual sport decides to retire.
I suppose if he was keeping better up and comers out of the Davis Cup team I'd understand, though really as it stands, who cares?
Hewitt's just a good ordinary tennis player nowadays, but a few years ago he was a genuine star of the game. He's earned the right to go out as he pleases.
TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.
