Second Test- India V Australia, Hyderabad

After being undone by spin and Dhoni in Chennia the tour moves to Hyderabad, the Aussies having a few questions to answer. In good news the pitch is meant to provide a bit more for the seamers, its a slightly harder surface than most other Indian grounds but it will still grip and turn from day one.

The talk is Australia will go in unchanged, Starc being the lucky man to keep his spot, though no XI has been released. Wade also fractured a cheekbone on the eve of the game but barring any late complications should be right to go.

Australia: (possible) 1 David Warner, 2 Ed Cowan, 3 Phillip Hughes, 4 Shane Watson, 5 Michael Clarke (capt), 6 Matthew Wade (wk)/Usman Khawaja, 7 Moises Henriques, 8 Peter Siddle, 9 Mitchell Starc/Mitchell Johnson/Xavier Doherty, 10 James Pattinson, 11 Nathan Lyon

India dominated the first test and the only talk of change is whether to turn the screws even more and bring in Ojha; their best bowler against England for one of the seamers.

India: (probable) 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 M Vijay, 3 Cheteshwar Pujara, 4 Sachin Tendulkar, 5 Virat Kohli, 6 Ravindra Jadeja, 7 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 8 R Ashwin, 9 Harbhajan Singh, 10 and 11 Bhuvneshwar Kumar/ Ishant Sharma/Pragyan Ojha

Its going to be hot and sweaty, no rain and 35 degree forecasts for the five days, if we're any chance we need a big first innings, 500 is par batting first so we need a few in the top order to stand up and get on with their starts.

If Xavier Doherty had the ability to bat 7 he would still just be a borderline all-rounder at test level IMO.

I'd ask who has the song now that Lyon is out, but I don't have faith that it will b a concern.

Lyon for Doherty? Why? And Maxwell is a worse spinner than Cameron White

Shifting the deck chairs on the titantic.

Doherty + Maxwell selection reminds me of trade time when fans delude themselves into thinking two ordinary players are worth one good player. To be fair to the selectors the options aren't great but I would have the O'Keefe + Lyon combo instead.

As a sidenote I think Fawad Ahmed's Australian citizenship and baggy green ceremonies will be very close together.

Clarke's consistency is astonishing, this run is starting to put him in the top bracket of Australian batsman

His ability to auto get to 40-50 is amazing.

He plays every innings from the battler in a tough situation to a destroyer to bring an attack to their knees. I have not seen a better two year period of test cricket from an individual in my time following the game.

Fully agree, absolutely amazing. I wouldn't call him technically tight; he still wafts away from his body, drives on the up and can get caught not moving his feet around off stump but his eye is that good it doesn't matter.

And Wade throws it away, its a long batting lineup but criminal getting to 60 and not carrying on. Little to no faith in Maxwell as a batsman or bowler

Wade got frustrated there. I know there are doubts over him at number 6 but I have him ahead of both Cowan and Watson as pure bats at the moment.

What is it Swann says? Cutting the off spinner is patting a burning dog. Dont want to give Harby wickets, dominate him and grind the bloke into the dust
