It does, he probably wants a burger with the lot when really he can't handle it.

Given his age he might be better following the likes of Tait and Nannes and just chase the limited over Cricket dollars but really I would have thought he'd want to be fit for every test he could play.

These decisions are never that clear though.

You can add Fawad Ahmed to that squad, changes to the citizenship laws were passed in the House of Representatives overnight

Would Warner drop down the order and bat at 4?

Cowan is currently opening with Watson in the match against Somerset, so is this our prefferred set up. Interesting where Warner will end up.

Doubt Warner will be selected early with no cricket under his belt, there has been talk of him dropping down the order as well. My money would be on the Watson-Rogers combination as the first cabs off the rank

Interesting that Faulkner played last night as well batting at 6. Bold selection though I can't see him making enough runs to justify the selection if it goes forward though.

The main seamers were Patto, Starc and Siddle with Lyon the spinner. Patto and Starc with four wickets each were great with the second rock, Siddle and Lyon were expensive. Are there questions over Siddle's place in the side? His stats against top line nations are poor and with Harris/Bird in reserve we have serious quality outside of the XI. My 3 starting quicks would at this stage be Pattinson, Bird and Harris. Still not convinced on Mitch Starc though they love him

If Watson does some bowling it would also make it a complete overkill. The number 6 spot needs to be a specialist batsman who ideally could bowl a few overs not one who is primarily a bowler and regarded as being handy with the bat.

Bird has to play, doesn't he?

His technique seems made for English conditions. I'd have him ahead of Siddle.

I'd have Pattinson, Siddle and Bird as the three pacemen.

Watson hit 90 overnight, Cowan only 3 and Hughes batted at 5. It may very well be a battle between Cowan and Hughes with Rogers capable of opening or batting 3. Khawaja batted 3 though only to get some time in the middle I imagine, he's probably in a tussle for 6 with Faulkner and maybe Warner when he returns. Watson will bowl in the second tour game
