Black Caviar has been retired after 25 straight wins

CONNECTIONS of Black Caviar have announced the retirement of the world's fastest sprinter and Australia's favourite racehorse.

She finishes her career unbeaten after 25 starts, which includes a record 15 Group 1 victories.

Managing owner Neil Werrett and Peter Moody made the announcement at a press conference at Caulfield this afternoon.

May not ever see another horse like Black Caviar for a long time.

45 years on a racetrack I must say that after she won the Newmarket Handicap it rated as the best performance that I'd seen.I didn't think that I would ever see a better sprinter than Manikato but up to 1400m I think Caviar has her covered.People tell me Vain was better than both of them but I never saw Vain race.

The Caulfield Carnival kicks off today with the Caulfield Gunieas. Next week is the Caulfield Cup.

Picked two of the three in my trifecta, unfortunately didn't have RC.

Had Verema down for a win, DNF. Not sure what happened there.

Was pulled up very early, would have been around the 1800 mark. I'm guessing broken leg because a curtain was going up as the finishers were pulling up.

Was pulled up very early, would have been around the 1800 mark. I'm guessing broken leg because a curtain was going up as the finishers were pulling up.

Just read it was a broken leg and she was put down.

Pretty sad news on such a day.
