2014 Australian Grand Prix is close to starting. The first one to start the season. Be interesting to see how Daniel Riccardo goes. Who do you think will win it for those who follow F1 very closely.

Live coverage: Nico Rosberg wins Australian F1 Grand Prix ahead of Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo

AUSSIE hero Daniel Ricciardo has held on for second place in the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix at Albert Park.

The 24-year-old West Australian was under siege from McLaren Mercedes driver Kevin Magnussen as Mercedes no.2 Nico Rosberg surged to victory.

Ricciardo, on debut for Red Bull Racing, showed experience beyond his years to keep Magnussen at bay and secure the best finish for an Australian driver at Albert Park.

Retired Aussie F1 driver Mark Webber finished fourth in 2012.

But the day belonged to Rosberg, 28, who exploded from third on the grid to blow by pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton and Ricciardo.

Hamilton was forced out of the race with engine troubles along with Red Bull ace Sebastian Vettel after just one lap on the Melbourne street circuit.

The victory snaps a nine-month Formula 1 drought for Rosberg, who snared the British Grand Prix at Silverstone last June.

Meanwhile, Japanese flyer Kamui Kobayashi could come under scrutiny from race judges for a bold move at turn one which brought about his and Williams driver Felipe Massa’s demise.

                AUSTRALIAN F1 GP RESULT
                1. Rosberg, 2. Ricciardo, 3. Magnussen, 4. Button, 5. Alonso, 6. Bottas, 7. Hulkenberg, 8. Raikkonen

Hate of the motoring gods transferred from Webber too I see.
