    EPL - Being relegated?

I notice a lot of clubs get relegated from the EPL actually struggle to return.
Wolves are now being relegated from the Championship League which is a massive fall.

How does it happen that clubs are competitive in the EPL, get relegated and then fall back further?

Is it player contracts? A loss of sponsors? or is it something else?

With Wigan right in the drop zone how do they re gig things so they can quickly bounce back?

I believe the parachute payment is about £60 over 4 years.
£23 in the first year, £18 in the 2nd and £9 for the final two years. To the novice follower like me it seems like a generous amount allowing well run clubs the chance to have another crack at a return within 2 seasons.

History would say it's unlikely though. Most clubs promoted to the EPL aren't receiving parachute payments.

If Wigan drop what formula for success should they be following to make a speedy return?

The parachute payment should stop that from happening really.

The main issue is the massive drop in revenue and the fact that teams still have to pay those high wages.

If the QPR chairmen decides he has had enough of losing money on them they will absolutely freefall.

As for a blueprint you need to sell quickly and cheaply those that are not suited to the championship. Too many chairmen in England hold onto players because they arent able to sell them for their worth and keep them on the books for 3-4 more seasons (hello Bentley).

Get in experienced players in the championship and ensure you have stability in management which will be hard for Wigan with Martinez most likely going to Everton.

History would say that nearly every team promoted to the EPL aren't benefiting from parachute payments.

I think the massive drop in revenue is the killer for sides especially ones like Wigan who don't have a Chelsea type backing.

      I hope that doesn't happen.

I get they need to clear some contracts but really how many players will want to stay. We have been good at getting players because we can provide them the opportunity to play in the EPL and now that appears to be unlikely.

I'm sure a few of the older guys will stay and provide some stability and leadership but how do we attract younger talent or even loan players?

Martinez has been great but there must be some other good managers who could replace him

Welcome to the world of Arsenal Gary. It's a bitch when you lose your best couple of players every year.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
