Micky Arthur Sacked

Mickey Arthur has been sacked as Australia's head coach less than three weeks before the start of the Ashes. Cricket Australia is yet to officially announce the decision but the chief executive James Sutherland and general manager of team performance Pat Howard are due to hold a press conference in Bristol on Monday morning (UK time) to confirm the move.

Darren Lehmann, the successful Queensland coach, is considered a leading contender to replace Arthur at short notice. Lehmann is in England having just finished a tour as mentor of the Australia A outfit and has won rave reviews for the approach he has taken with Queensland since taking over in 2011.

Geez, what a ditch Aussie Cricket is in.

FWIW John Inverarity should be shown the door also. He's a dinosaur and his selections over the last summer have been baffling in many instances in all forms of the game.

Timing not great but most definatly a decision well overdue imo, the team still has its bowling, batting and fielding coaches in check, players should be well drilled enough for the first test (they aren't all kids) and Boof was the perfect replacement, whether Lehmann wants to job full time is another matter.

Whilst I'm happy to see Boof get a run and think he may be a good long term candidate for the side, it's a poorly timed sacking given how close the matches are.

Really? All we can go on are the results and Boof has been great for Queensland cricket. Chuck has definitely improved things at SA but he hasn't brought the same improvement or reputation Darren has

He reads the play better than anyone ant won't accept people being half arsed. Just what we need. Boofa is a players coach and they are the guys letting us down.

Fair call. I sit firmly in the Boof camp, think he'd be the type to get some confidence back into the Khawaja's and Hughes'. Would you have called Micky Arthur a disciplinarian?

Arthur did an average job in WA to be honest.
