    3rd Test Old Trafford

    Starts Thursday 1st August.

What will the selectors do? England have brought in Monty Panesar and Chris Tremlett and dropped Finn and Onion from the squad.

Do you reckon Warner will play in this test series BAD? We really need something because our batting has been really poor.

Really not sure, but I do expect they will change the bowlers. We know Pattinson is out injured and whether they persist with Agar will depend on the wicket at Old Trafford.

I think the selectors will stick with Agar even though (with the inclusion of Panesar) it looks like it might turn.

Would England play two spinners by any chance and should we look at doing likewise with Lyon and Agar?

I think Bird would have to come in from Pattinson. Not sure about the top order conundrum.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Does Old Trafford favour the batters more or the bowlers more.

            My Test team:

            1. Watson (last chance saloon as an opener)
            2. Rogers
            3. Khawaja (worth persisting with as a number 3 for the rest of the series)
            4. Warner
            5. Clarke
            6. Smith (his ability to spin gives him the edge over Hughes)
            7. Haddin
            8. Agar (needs to get some wickets)
            9. Siddle
            10. Harris
            11. Bird (need to control the flow of runs gives him the edge over Starc)

Can't disagree with any of that, except I'd have Nathan Lyon playing instead of Agar.

It's easy to forget in Lyon's last Test, he took 9 for 165 for the match including 7/94 - his best figures ever.

He is a wicket taker and the best spin bowler we've got, IMO. Play him.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

This. I'm puzzled by how did Agar got in front of him in the first place.

Isn't Agar injured and Lyon is coming in to replace him ?

Tremlett is a big unit, much more reliable bowler than finn, even if not as young and quick

I could see Warner coming in for rogers.
I will never see #16 the same!!

                          Bird in for Pattinson
                          Lyon in for Agar

Think we'll persist with the same batting line up.

Heavy rain yesterday in Manchester might delay things a touch but looking out the window now it looks a great day for cricket. Lots of aussie players walking around town and a massive aussie contingent is over to cheer the lads on...3-2!
