The more staggering stat for mine is that this is the 24th highest batting ranking in the history of test cricket ahead of guys like Lara, Tendulkar and Pietersen:

That stat is basically about how long the exceptional form is sustained for (Bradman obviously tops it at 1), he has dominated almost without fail since that tour of the UK two years ago

How does he keep it up Lem? Are you in the camp of him not batting in the nets and keeping for the pitch, or keep working on his form in the nets?

What even more remarkable is he's scored centuries in England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, and a 97 in the UAE in the past 2 years. Basically runs in all conditions and against all types of bowling attack.

How far can we see Smith going? Batting at three hasn't fazed him yet.

It's really hard to predict. Logic says he'll have a form slump or two during his career, the real test will be how he works through that, and how well he can graft scores when not in the best touch. At the moment it seems so easy for him, plus his powers of concentration are highly impressive, at 26 with over 2500 test runs to his name you'd have to think he'd get 10,000 pretty easily.

He starts turning the hundreds into two hundreds. He must have been annoyed at himself for getting out for 199 and not getting his first double century.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Real credit to Smith for turning it around from a scratchy beginning.
Amla was the same at the start of his career, and looks like Smith's worked very hard on his game.

Comes down to the individual really, I know when Ponting was in his pinkest form it was a case of using net time to keep polished but when in a trough you'd have to drag him out. I'm not sure what Clarke was like during his spell of dominance but those are the two best streaks of form I've seen with Smith now making up the third
