    Australia's ODI Squad

Australia ODI squad has been announced:
    David Warner, Aaron Finch,
    Shane Watson Shaun Marsh
Michael Clarke (capt), George Bailey (vice-capt)
    Brad Haddin (wk), Glenn Maxwell
    James Faulkner, Mitchell Johnson
    Nathan Coulter-Nile, James Pattinson
    Clint McKay, Xavier Doherty.

I would have kept Henriques in the side and Voges must be unlucky
Is there any need to rush Pattinson into the side? Johnson probably deserves a rest.

Voges, Christian and Ferguson look to have come and gone. Henriques omission is interesting too.

Who's spot would Henriques take, Maxwell or Faulkner?

I'd probably drop Maxwell despite him being an explosive hitter. Henriques appeals because he is also a brilliant outfielder

I think 4 openers is somewhat excessive in a 14 man squad. I'm counting Marsh as an opener.
Watson is very good at the ODI games but do we need him bowling 10 overs?
This probably strengthens the need to play Henriques.

I think we could also play someone else instead of Haddin just because it would be a great time to either give Wade the job or to find and develop someone else.

I'd like to see something like

        Warner, Finch
        Watson, Clarke,
        Bailey, Henriques
        Wade
        Faulkner, Coulter-Nile
        McKay, Doherty

Not sure what Voges has done wrong? Average of 47 this year with 470 runs, can't do much more than that

            He's not an opener.

Understanding of Watson's position in the side, but with his injury concerns shouldn't he be held back prior to the South African series?

I'd normally agree with that but with Watson is there any point? He gets injured so often.

I thought we were done with the rotations rubbish.
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

I agree that we pick the best team for test matches, but for meaningless OD games we should be looking to the future and preserving the health of 'at risk' players.

I agree. At the very least play Henriques to lighten the need to have Watson bowl 10 overs.

This isn't a rotation issue either it's about managing a player that has a long history of breaking down

Ah fair call, I thought we were in the 5th test thread.
