    ICC Takeover

A report leaked a few days ago that is causing a fair stir. Basically the big 3 country boards: India, Australia and England are making a play for administrative powers over the ICC and its member states. The general thinking of these three boards seems to be that while they control and provide financial stability they should be in charge of pretty much all executive decision making. The proposals are:
-Greater share of finances to be rerouted from other member states (mostly associates) to the big 3
-A new executive committee with the big 3 as permanent members and overriding power
-Promotion and relegation in test cricket with the big 3 exempt
-Dissolution of the Future Tours Programme
-Key position (Chairman, finance committee members and executive committee members) to be nominations of big 3
-Dissolution of Test Championship, reinstatement of Champions Trophy

It seems CA and the ECB have finally gone to the dark side and jumped in with the financial clout of the BCCI, if they manage to bully this past a vote it is sending cricket back 50 years. The associate nations will wither, any integrity in a promotion/relegation system is void before it is even started and any hope of a relevant world table goes out the window. It seems ludicrous that this will be past but with the power these 3 boards hold no country will want to get them offside...very dangerous times ahead.

Something must have happened that pissed them off
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

It's nothing more than a power grab. The ICC isn't a neutral body, its a council of the cricket committees which these three (particularly the BCCI) basically control anyway.

I remember reading an article by Gideon Haigh back in 2012, he wrote something along the lines of the strong boards not only resent propping up the weak but they resent having to do anything much at all except growing stronger

There seems to be a very transferable skill set from sports administration to dictatorship and this is a great example of that.
