4th Test - Australia vs India

India have won the toss and are batting.

India have selected 5 bowlers, H. Singh replaces Jaffer meaning Pathan will open both the batting and the bowling (under 12's stuff)

Australia make 2 changes, Hayden & Hogg in for Rogers & Tait.

Terrific attacking ploy by the Indians. They won the toss and still decided to bat putting the onus on Pathan to make some runs. Interesting that they decided to settle down the middle order.

I actually think it is a strange move. Pathan will make less runs at the top (bit easy to say that now but,) and we get to the keeper at 4 down. At 5 down we have Kumble. They are under pressure because no one can really fail.

No we don't. Dhoni is still batting at 7 meaning he comes in at 5 down and Kumble is at 8 (6 down).

All it has meant is that Pathan has moved from no.8 to no.2 and Kumble has moved up one spot, everything else is pretty much the same.

My bad. I thought someone would pick that mistake up. Missed Laxman in the batting oorder.

I think the Indians will be well pleased with their efforts today and they are well placed to make a real game of this. Surely Gangulay will not be missed from this team though.

Has Symonds injury restricted his bowling? He wasn't used today.

How bad was Gilchirst drop of Laxman?
I think the guy is kidding himself thinking he can play for another 2/3 years. His missed chances have become far to regular.

I don't know, but his keeping wasn't really considered to be great was it? But without the extra batting to make up for it it is a concern.

Ganguly did alright in India in those one dayers. I think if Symo was bowling he would do some seamers before Hogg comes on.

His keeping is really falling away now, and he should retire to make way for Haddin.

We need to get through the first hour and then we can begin the run chase.

A big inning by Hayden would be the tonic today.

Aussies aren't really at the top of their game are they. Ponting on the first day then Clarke dropped another yesterday. Can't miss chances against a high quality batting line up like India if you want to win.

I understand there will probably be a result in Adelaide if history has anything to with it but these batting fests are so boring. Give me dominate bowling (spin or pace) anyday.

Went in yesterday for a bit of a viewing, and boy was it frustrating not being able to quickly finish off the tail.

We need to be aggressive and put the runs on the board fairly quickly to have any chance of winning, our batters really need a day out for us to stay in the running, that is for sure.

Interestingly, I don't think Hayden has scored a century at Adelaide (could be wrong), so hopefully he is out to get one today.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I have been thinking the same thing. What is more exciting than a wicket.

But everywhere is becoming a good batting track so the match can finish in 4-5 days so the crowd numbers are better and channel nine doesn't have to show midday movies.

This was one of the more subdued efforts I have seen from the Australians. They really batted with purpose. They still have a lot of work in front of them.
