    The body count

So far Andy Flower has stood down and Kevin Pietersen as has been told he will no longer be picked and it is international career over for good (this time), this follows the retirement of Swann and hiatus of Trott.

It really is starting to look like this Ashes has been the death knell for the successful England unit of the past 5 or so years, should there be more changes or is this rebuild looking too hasty? I don't think they have the talent to turf someone like KP but feel it was time Andy Flower was moved on. Is Cook's captaincy safe? Interesting times ahead.

I don't know anything about Pietersen's personality and dynamics with the team, but as a batsman, I would have him in the team anytime.

Even though he threw his wicket away more than once in the recent series when England really needed him to occupy the crease? Getting caught on the boundary in Perth in the second innings during the third test was one of the most selfish sporting acts I've ever seen. I wouldn't have him in my team.

The poms have some good young talent. Better to play them than blokes whose use-by date is imminent.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Hasn't Shane Warne been offered the job ?
Very smart cricket wise but not sure if his out of cricket brain is of the same quality.

Nope just Warney being Warney, haven't even started the process yet. Just media talk he decided to respond to

Their young batsman seem to be having the same problems ours are, going backwards at a rate of knots. James Taylor, Eoin Morgan, Bairstow even Joe Root don't look up to it at this stage. They might be in for a bit of pain yet

Big bash is great but it's harming test cricket techniques and valuing your wicket.
To Me Root is the perfect example the kid could be an awesome test player but keep him out of 20/20

Its a point we do hear a lot but not one I necessarily agree with at this stage. Smith and Warner have both played a lot of T20 and have become solid test performers while Hughes, Khawaja have only dabbled and are still struggling. The young English batsman don't go to the IPL and are struggling, while India seems to have no problem producing good test batsman, many have played a heap more T20 than young batsman from other nations.

Common wisdom would agree with you but at this stage I don't think we are actually seeing T20 harm the techniques of young batsman around the world. The real test will be the next generation who have grown up watching it and playing it from an early age where as even someone like Root wouldn't have been young enough to play it as a kid.

I couldn't believe KP survived Textgate a few years ago.
Did anyone else hear Crash Craddock's comments that KP said to a batting partner that he couldn't work
Out why that player got a game!!
Surprised he didn't wear the bat after that!

KP's book will be released in a few days as his gag order expires...interesting times ahead for Prior and Flower in particular it seems
