District Cricket Qtr Final - Footscray Vs Carlton

Heading down to Merv Hughes Oval this arvo to see the dogs take on the blues. The doggies have had there best season in years finishing 2nd.

They made 252 and the blues get 85 overs today to reach the total. Unfortunately for the dogs, big John Hastings couldn't play.

Anyway always good to beat Carlton in any sport so get on down there!

That would be a winning score at the w/o with an attack of Merv, dodemaide, miller and Lenny Balcam.

Yeah Haberfield was on fire. He was taken off with Carlton 9 for about 70. Apparently it was the dogs first finals win in 34 years(since their premiership?) and a stirring rendition of 'Sons of the West' was heard from the change rooms afterwards! Looks like they will play either Geelong or Prahran at home again. And well worth venturing in the clubrooms to check out some great photos of Merv, Dodders, 'funky' Miller, Ray Bright, Alan Hurst and the Whitten oval and Dodders yellow Australian helmet.

Correct. I don't think they've even been in a final since.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Hmm and Geelong are 1/40 odd at stumps. C'mon dogs, dig deep!

                      Dogs win
                      Geelong all out 194!
Fair to say john Hastings turned the tide
Good to see the cricketing version can win a prelim.

Should be a ripper final. Haberfield has been a great inclusion, the bloke has genuine wheels.

The word from inside the club is that if Cricket Victoria offer him a contract, he will stay in Victoria. If SA offer him one, he will return home.
