Inverarity and Bichel off selection panel, Hohns and M. Waugh on, Rod Marsh the new chairman

It's an interesting time to make changes considering the successful summer we've had. Inverarity wanted to give up the chairman position but retain a spot while Pat Howard wanted to bring in new faces. I can't say I'm overly enthusiastic, Hohns reputation is worse than his results, but they still aren't terrific, while I can't say M. Waugh has ever struck me as the most deep thinking individual. The lack of bowling on the panel as well is a hole.

Just from the outside I would have said if it's not broken, why fix it? Hearing that the desire for change came from Pat Howard makes me even more nervous. Thoughts?

Can't believe Rod Marsh is the chairman. Can he put two words together?

He set up the Australian Cricket Acadamy and then the poms poached him in the early 2000s to perform the same task for them as well as adding some steel to their cricket after they got sick of being flogged by us and it worked pretty well for them.

      I reckon it's a pretty good appointment.

Hohns was COS when we emerged from mediocrity in the late '80s/early '90s. I'm more than happy to have him back in the band.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I like the Marsh appointment, he has done just about everything in the game. Mark Waugh is the one who had my eyebrows raisinng, can't say I agreed with much, if anything, he said in regards to selection while doing BBL commentary

I differ greatly from your reviews. I didn't watch much of the BBL but find Waugh insightful on Inside cricket. Marsh is just a 50/50 appointment for me. I'm also not sure about the Hohns appointment.

Any reason you're not keen on Marsh?

I am happy with Marsh. He has done plenty right since he finished playing.

Mark Waugh worries me. Every time I have seen him on commentary all he has done is talk up NSW players.

So no real change to the overall selection philosophy then?

So Dom Thornley shouldn't be our next test captain?? I'm confused??

You are asking the wrong question, the question you should be asking is why isn't Thronley in the test team and why isn't he vice captain!
