    ODI Squad for Zimbabwe Tour

As I'm sure very few of us were aware Australia will be back in action for a ODI round robin tournament against South Africa and Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe beginning on August 25. The squad has just been released:

Australia Squad: Aaron Finch, Shane Watson, Michael Clarke (capt), George Bailey, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Brad Haddin (wk), Mitchell Marsh, James Faulkner, Mitchell Johnson, Ben Cutting, Mitchell Starc, Kane Richardson, Nathan Lyon

It's more interesting in my mind as an insight as to how the new selection panel will be thinking. It seems Phillip Hughes isn't highly rated (if you aren't getting picked with no David Warner and on the back of a one day double hundred than when are you?) but I do like having Lyon in the squad as a limited overs bowler. Cutting and Richardson are in the squad based on Aus A form but McKay is ditched after being the best one day bowler of the last 3 years? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

It's not a terrible squad by any means but Cutting is a guy I can't see ever averaging sub 30 in the international game and we could do with an extra batsman in there. Thoughts?

    Australia v Zimbabwe news

Watson steps on ball at training, does his ankle and sent home, blokes a walking injury, if you can get an injury looking at the tv he will get it.

I've been a tad busy of late, is it ODI and tests?

Shame. He needs to bully these teams to offset not making big scores when we need it consistently.

Does he make big scores ? He is a 25 run specialist as an opener isn't he ?

No test matches, its a triangular one day series against South Africa and Zimbabwe. South Africa had the single test against Zimbabwe and won in a canter

Hughes celebrated his call up to the squad with an unbeaten 243 against South Africa A...the lad is in some kind of form

Massive effort. Hopefully he can start to string together some consistent performances at the top level.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I just read on Cricinfo that Hughes is no sure thing. He can't do more than what he has been.

Right you are, no Clarke and Hughes still can't get a gig.

Small crowd and I think we are talking in the hundreds. Pitch is ultra slow as well.

350 off the 50 overs. Maxwell destroyed them and Marsh batted well.
