    MLB post season

Folks it's that time of year again, October.
The much talked about Oakland Athletics have been eliminated in a wild card play off against the Kansas City Royals.
The A's and Billy Been ( Mr moneyball) made a big trade at the deadline trading their biggest offensive weapon Cespides and bringing in a post season performer in Jon Lester. Clearly a trade for decent post season pitching which has let them down in previous play off games. The royals winning in 12 with their speed really coming to the fore.

The game itself was very apt for a wildcard play off. Crazy game but happy for the Royals

Watched the highlights which were a plenty and would have been a great game to watch. Seven stolen bases by the royals!

Was amazed the A's gave up Cespedes in the Lester trade. Lester is a great pitcher but other than Coco Crisp in that batting line up there isn't much to be worried about. After the All Star break I think the A's had the second or third worst record in baseball. Must be desperate to trade for Dunn.

      Any predictions guys?

Dunn had played over a thousand games without playing in the post season!
The trade put pressure on guys platooning in the line up, and they just fell through the floor offensively.
They gambled thinking they'd win the division, and great pitching would get them through the post season.
Your Tigers have been banging the door down, and to be honest it's wide open in the American League.
The national league has unfortunately got the Cards winning it ( wouldn't mind the nationals ) dodgers defensively are a worry.
The pirates have been on a roll in the second half, and not sold on the giants .

Spend too much time watching the American League Remi so don't know a huge amount on the National league. Would have thought the Dodgers would be favs to get through but that's just a guess.
Really worried about the Tigers bullpen. Nathan has been a huge worry all year and doesn't have a good post season record either. Seems like the same problem every post season. We have a better all round team this year, it's only the bullpen and Davis injury that is a worry. Hopefully Sanchez moving to the pen will give us the boost we need in there.

          Who you rooting for Remi?

To be fair, the balls on Beane to make that trade were huge and as far as I'm concerned fully justified. He traded a .256/.303/.464 hitter for one of the best pitchers in baseball to try and win a World Series this year. Cespedes was worse for the Red Sox than with the A's and was behind Donaldson as the A's best hitter.
I'm not sure that the offence falling off a cliff can be blamed on the trade. A lot of it was probably natural regression for some of the players. They didn't win the division (behind an Angels team who won behind Mike Trout a solid infield and some kind of bizarre pitching wizardry). Then lost a one game playoff, which they led handsomely at times, in 12 innings. The playoffs are a crapshoot anyway. One game playoffs are basically random chance.
I look forward to watching the game back in full. If it's as good as they say it'll be a joy to watch. I'm certainly not going to blame Beane for going all in to try and win it. Not getting the result doesn't necessarily mean the process was wrong.

With no A's, I'm onto the Orioles and Pirates. Although I have a feeling the World Series will be in California this year.

As for the Lester trade, it's unfortunate for Beane as it was worth the gamble. As a Sox fan, I guess we have lost nothing if we can bid to take him back under free agency in the off-season. He won't come cheap, but he wouldn't have come cheap, anyway. It would've been nice if he could've done the ob for Beane, but not to be.... So go Orioles.

I reckon Oakland would have thought they'd be watching the wildcard playoff having won the division.
The Fox I.q ran out with The A's leading by 4 runs in the seventh.
Would have put the house on Lester getting it done, and hope the A's get back their again .
Like anyone in the N/L bar the Dodgers or Cards, and as for the A/L it doesn't really bother me .
Wouldn't mind the Tigers getting it done ( been knocking on the door for a while) and like the Orioles

Detroit showing that a bullpen that's a tyre fire and a manager who can't manage can overcome a solid line-up and great starters to blow 2 games to the O's.
Enjoyed the Nat's Giants game this morning.
Just watching the Dodgers implode against the Cardinals. Kershaw giving up a 5 of 8 runs in the bottom of the 7th.
                  God I hate the Cardinals.

Hoping the O's or the Royals can win it all, but would accept anyone except the Cards.

Is there a worst bullpen ever to make the postseason? Just finished watching the game and am absolutely livid! Ausmus second game in a row makes a bad move. I know Sanchez has hardly pitched in 2 months but he only had thrown 30 pitches and he s handing it over to the worst bullpen in history.
And while we are at it who is that clown at 3rd base? Only base coach on the planet who would have waved Miggy home. Baltimore outfielders have the best arms in the majors and miggy is the slowest & best player you have. Moron!
How many postseasons do we have to make before DD does something about that bullpen. The worst thing is the guy thats the most suspect hasn't even been used yet, we save hime for special occasions.
Series is as good as over. Impossible to come back with the hacks in that bullpen. We need to have a double figure lead to be safe with that bullpen.

Went to bed last night just after The Tigers caught fire and thinking Verlander, game over.
There was a staggering stat that he was 111 and 2 with that lead ( or that many runs in an innings)
Their pen's been an issue for a whole now

It's the craziest baseball. Just throw the season away and start again. Huge probability now of a Orioles / Royals ALCS. Tigers currently trying to trade Miggy for the Royals 'pen

Royals pen and defence is just brilliant.
The only issue they don't have great home run power.
But boy, can they steal a bag or two.
The Kershaw Wainwright duel ended up being a flop
