How do you rate Ishnat Sharma?

This young bloke has greatly impressed me this summer.

Considering he only took up the game a few years ago, he has incredible talent. He's really been thrown in the deep end for this tour but he's one of the few Indians who can hold his head high.

Sure, he had the incident on Sunday where he gave Symonds a send off, but TBH I think that was a bit of carry-over from when he should have had him in the test. He's 19, hopefully he can mature a bit better than some of his compatriots have over their careers.

When I saw the reserve prices for IPL players, I was stunned that his was so low. The auction showed his true worth to the cricket world.

At just 19 years of age, how do you see his career panning out?

I think he has the world at his feet.

I stated fairly early in the summer that in about 5 years, he'll be the worlds best bowler. Great delivery stride, nice tall action, hits the spots, can bowl to challenging fields, see a lot of McGrath in him for sure.

I'm not overly impressed by his ranting and raving on the field though, come back once you've taken 200 test wickets and then talk trash on blokes like Hayden, until then, keep your mouth shut - at least a little bit.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Looks to be a very good bowler, but he is a big ****ing sook. Young or not it is quite typical of an Indian cricketer to have a chip on his shoulder.

Having role models such as Ganguly and H.Singh couldn't be all that great for a young player coming through the ranks.

The test will be once he is well known on the international scene and has achieved the Indian cricketers fame and fortune. Pathan was looking awesome early but lost his way as many Indians do. Also he hasn't had to bowl on as many flat tracks in the one dayers so far so iit will test him in India for sure

India have never had a genuinely quick gun strike bowler and Sharma might be it. He's a huge talent and has all the attributes to be a great fast bowler-pace, direction, economical action, a willingness to work hard and intimidation.

I dont mind him sounding off to the Australians while he's getting them out and making them uncomfortable. For a bowler like Ishant it's part of his stock in trade. He's got to hate and celebrate and he's got the game to back it up. If he was getting pasted all over the park and carrying on then he'd look a dick, like any number of 'pace' bowlers India have turned up with in the past.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

This is my only real criticism of him.

Hopefully he can mature and rise above the rubbish that surrounds him.

He's certainly been the find of the Summer for India. From memory he only got a game in the Sydney test when Zaheer Khan pulled up lame. Made the most of his opportunity that's for sure.

The Herald Sun interpreted his potential selection as an act of desparation from the Indians IIRC.

His last test saw him get 5 for bout 110 in the 1st inns against Pakistan. So he wasn't too new

I think fast bowlers should be encouraged to give batsmen a spray on the way off, it's good for the game.

Tell the journos and commentators to bugger off with their politically correct wankery and let the adults go at it.

I also don't mind the odd send-off being given, gives the game a bit of character and gives us something to talk about.

                        Agree totally.

Nothing better than seeing a bowler tell the batsmen where to go, esp. after the batsmen has had a good innings.

Bu it's nature cricket is a game given to sledging. You've eleven competetive blokes standing around and ganging up on one bloke.

It's natural that things will be said.

I think you can show your emotion but don't get an inch away from someones face and scream at them after making a hundred. Celebrate with your teammates (it's alright if our bloke do it but)

If it was me in Sharma's shoes I would've been screaming "Lets see you stand your ground now tough guy!!"
