    Very very talented cricketer

A few years back there was some spirited debate on here with a number not wanting to see him play for Australia again.
I hope we don't thrust the captaincy on him and I'd also like to see him as the number 5 or 6 in the batting order a bit longer.

I remember saying he's the type of kid we need to identify and persist with, rather than the revolving door we'd had. I can't remember who I was debating it with, but he was adamant Smith was everything that was wrong with Australian cricket, and we'd finally got it right picking guys like Cowan, but the rest of us were too sheep like to see it.

It didn't make any sense at the time and makes even less sense now. I recall saying guys like Cowan and Doolan are the equivalent of the never ending list of journeymen England picked in the 90s,basically anyone who got a couple of first class scores in a row got picked in the next Test.

Smith was always our best prospect, he just needed time and opportunity.

14k to a game at the G is a bit sad.

Yep that was quite dissapointing. I think my interest will increase a bit more once the test series gets underway.

Still likely to make more money than we would with a packed house at Etihad.

It's not the $$$$$ CA would be worrying about, it's the lack of interest in the supposed sporting capital that would be the real worry.

14k to a ODI is shocking. I can remember going to ODI's in the 90's and the place was packed.

                Just flicked on the Cricket.

                1st Innings RSA 6/280
2nd Innings after 12 overs we are 1/79 target 281
Very good stuff from Finch and Watson.

Looking like an easy win for us at the moment.

5.7 runs an over is our run rate. Pretty comfortable.

I missed my chance to mention it before his innings, but there's nothing like a dead rubber to dictate Watson making runs.

Much closer than 4-1 looks like on paper.

C'mon lets wrap this up. We only need 11 runs to win. The South Africans are having a late rush.

                            We have collapsed.

                            8/267

8 runs of 13 balls to win.

That was close. Faulkner finishes it off with a boundary and we win the match. We win the series 4-1 and we are the number 1 ranked ODI team now.
