    Gian Carlo Stanton

Gian Carlo Stanton Miami Marlins baseballer just signed a whopping 13 year 325 million dollar contract.
    Just Wow!
Funny with The Marlins being one of the smaller market MLB teams!!

Yep and deals like ours with Tom Boyd will be run of he mill in the next few years. Everyone squealing about it has no idea about the current climate in professional sport.

I know this is a bit naive but do they have a salary cap and if so why bother ?

Thats $25m a year or $64k per day.

Thats not per working day, that's each of the 365 days of the year.

Imagine putting your head on the pillow on a Sunday night knowing you earn't $64k that day.

I wouldn't be able to sleep because of the pay cut.

Athletes have become one man corporations. Each one must have so many people making a living off them.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

If his managers fee isn't capped, 5% to the managers is $3,200 a day for 13 years... I've got to get accreditation from the AFLPA to start a new career.

And the rest of the employees. As he lays on his pillow and thinks of the 64k + merchandise + endorsements - $3200 management fees that $64 probably pays the salary and benefits of the guy who fluffs his pillow and turns the lamp off.

Do you think Tom Boyd needs a pillow fluffer and lamp turner offer? Sounds like a good gig, although the hours could vary I guess. The grass is always greener.
