Ashton Agar recalled to the test squad

Surprise call up to the 4th test side for Agar.
Is it a sign that we just aren't happy to go back to the same players like Doherty or O'Keefe or is it a selection based more on potential than solid results?

Agar has done nothing. Gets a call up. Guys like Hughes were refused a call up to get more form. The national selection to me at least seems somewhat duplicitous. What happened to Muirhead, is he only a short form player?

Bit of an all rounder and plays for WA. Figures aren't too bad.

I don't follow the first class situation enough to know whether it's appropriate or not. I couldn't imagine us taking in two spinners for Sydney, so unless Lyon is injured it's a bit strange for me.

The selectors lost me when Glenn Maxwell picked to bat at no 3 for his country. The position Bradman batted at.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Can you seriously say they nailed it before that though? Sure stinkers like that don't come along too often, but Australian cricket selection, favours and non-favours go well beyond the stinkers.

Agreed. For years our batting line up has consisted of the five best batsmen in the country and a good bloke/the captain's best mate in order to keep harmony in the dressing room.

Brad Hodge may disagree with the assessment of the best five, but probably knows he fell short on the good bloke aspect to get into the sixth spot (not saying he's a bad bloke, or that he thought he was, just that he wasn't the right bloke).

Bizarre call up to be honest. But where can they Judge any form?
Shield games from a month ago?

Has he batted at 3 in First class cricket before?

He will only play if they feel the wicket is ripe for spin.

His FC figures this year are underwhelming.

In 3 games he has taken a total of 7/316 with best of 2/28 in Hobart.

Batting wise 130 runs at 26 ave with a best of 62 in his last knock in Perth.

Perhaps he has been added because Lyon has an injury. Thought Lyon was under bowled on the last day in Melbourne.

He's third in line after O'Keefe and Fawad.

Fawad is old as and O'Keefe just bombed.

                              It's not that bad.
