He's transitioned to AFL football really well.

Some fairly handy players nominated this year and the 2014 draft looking like a very even, deep field albeit perhaps lacking the depth of elite level players.

This is the most competitive year for the rising star award that I can remember. Hogan, McCarthy, Cripps, Miller, Brayshaw and Saad would all be deserving winners, while Heeney was very good early in the season before his injury.

I'm glad he didn't get it. Two goals from the goal square, one 'contested' mark against Biggs, and basically no influence around the ground. I'm sure he will be very good, but I think the love in he's had in the media is an overreaction.

Fairly similar to TBoyd's nomination, I was surprised when he got that, except that was without the media love-in.
