Dwayne Russell named best TV football commentator at awards night last night.

Leaving aside him, if everyone else is worse than him that's an indictment on the 8 other games each week of commentator teams each week on TV.

Surely this is a realisation of rock bottom to all networks to even slightly improve the viewing experience. And to every individual commentator to say to themselves 'Dwayne Rusell is better than me' and have a strong pre season to limp past the high water mark next year.

Remember one year when one of the Lonie twins got a few votes for the AFLPA Most Courageous. Turned out to be a group of players taking the mickey. Similar story hear surely? The guys a joke.

Dwayne Russell was awarded Most Outstanding Caller (Television), with FOX FOOTY’s Sandy Roberts Highly Commended.

I love how on SEN Robbo will constantly talk over someone like Dermott Brereton on technical aspects of playing football. Because, you know, Dermott only played in five premierships, obviously Robbo is going to know much more about the playing side of things from his brilliant career at South Bendigo.

A quite baffling decision as Dwayne must also be a leader for the most aggravating caller. He remains the single reason why I keep questioning why I should outlay money on a Foxtel subscription and why I'm forced to waste time syncing the radio broadcast to the Fox vision so that I can avoid his noise.

And for Sandy Roberts to be Highly Commended when he so often has absolutely no idea in his calling who the lesser known players are is just as bewildering.

Quite obviously just another meaningless awards night that is lacking in credibility.
