    Dream 22

OK this is less All-Australian team and more the best 22 in your eyes. Let's say you have a game to play in a month vs a bunch of aliens who are pretty much at our level and get to pick your coach.

    Coach - Beveridge

    B- Rampe, Davis, Gibson
    HB- Shaw, Rance, Simpson
    C- Hannebery, Ward, Ablett
    HF- Bontempelli, T.Walker, D.Martin
    F- Betts, Franklin, Tippett
    R- Goldstein, Dangerfield, J.Selwood (c)
I/C- Parker, JP Kennedy, Sloane, S.Mitchell
    --------------------------------------------------
    Just a few points:
    - went big on the intercept markers/possession guys down back. Rate Phil Davis super highly and unlike a lot of highly rated tall defenders, he takes the main guy.
    - went big on the contested possession players. Would be very bruising playing these guys.
    - I have only picked 1 specialist small forward but my belief is they are that good, they get midfield type. I think Bonts, Martin and Ablett rotating forward would be fun.
    - Tippett an absolute mega star as a tall forward/ruck.
    - I know JJ Kennedy and Suns Tom Lynch have better stats than Tex this year but I am massive on what Walker offers to the team. Also, I think Kennedy struggles when he travels and that would be a massive concern if we had to play on another planet.
    - Sam Mitchell gives a bit of flexibility playing down back or mid.

Sensational team Rocco. I need to have a good think to find replacements.

Surely Wood/Murphy/JJ gets a gig over Kade Simpson

Stringer should be in there somewhere too, maybe at the expense of a mid with Bonts/Martin moving to the guts
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

Murphy and JJ not considered due to injuries. Wood came very close but again injury issues gave others the nod. Kade Simpson is a quality player who doesn't get the respect he deserves.

Stringer nowhere near consistent enough for the team. He is a level or two off.

Very good back line and all deserve a place, but I reckon if most of them intercept everything going forward, then the other team won't score. BTW, very good pick up on Davis - v good defender.

So I'd add two more interceptors

          B- Haynes, Davis, Gibson
          HB- Shaw, Rance, Wood

Honourable mention to the zippy GWS backline version of JJ whose name escapes me

Always a hard thing to pick a league best 22.
But in any discussion of the best players - Robbie Gray has to be in there.

              No Fyfe Rocco?

              B- Laird, Rance, Morris
              HB- Shaw, McGovern, JJ
              C- Hannebery, Ablett, D.Martin
              HF- Bontempelli, T.Walker (c), J. Cameron
              F- Betts, Franklin, R. Gray
              R- Goldstein, Dangerfield, S.Mitchell
              I/C- J. Selwood, Stringer, P. Cripps, Parker

              My additions are;

              Laird to a back pocket
              McGovern to CHB
              Morris to a back pocket
              Gray to a forward pocket
              Mitchell starting on the ground
Stringer, Cameron and P. Cripps to the bench
My captain is Tex. Big game player, a heap of swagger and inspirational in big moments.1

But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Not considering guys with long term injuries.

                    You guys are all doing it wrong;

                    B: Shaw Rance Sloane
                    HB: Dangerfield McGovern Ablett
                    C: Riewoldt Franklin Shiel
                    HF: Zorko Lynch (Adelaide) Gray
                    FF: Wingard Cameron Betts

                    R: Nicnat Bont Cripps

                    I/c: Ward, Martin, Pendlebury, Stringer

None of Lynch, Gray and Zorko are allowed within 60m of goal, with Cameron/Stringer/Franklin being given the rotating Fev zone/centre square. EVERYONE is a midfield rotation.

I actually got butterflies in my stomach thinking about how seeing this side would make me feel.

Zac Williams? I am a massive fan of his but needs to prove more. Kade Simpson really underrated imo. Would be hugely rated if he played for the Hawks.

Sam Docherty has become one of the elite defenders in the game imo. Would be my 3rd picked in defense behind Shaw and Rance.

Reads the play extremely well, very tidy by foot and most importantly can defend really well. Wil be Carltons next skipper no doubt.

Would have him well ahead of Rampe.

Good team but Rampe the weak link for mine. Too panicky under pressure and prone to turnovers to be selected as an elite defender for mine. I'd have a few ahead of him, including Dale Morris.
