Come back in time, to the Tiger's '73 GF and that photo of Robert McGhie

A time when men were men and the footy was the VFL.

A famous Tigers photo and the audio story behind it. Gets into women's AFL at the end from the last 6 minute mark, but the rest of it is great about Robert McGhie. A Doggies bad boy who would move to Richmond and snag a flag at CHB with the Tigers.

    Good luck Tigers!

Many many years ago Bones's two brothers Warren and Stevie were playing for Yarraville in the VFA. Someone was silly enough to thump Stevie (littlish rover who fell to the ground out like a light). Warren (big hulking type) saw the act from start to finish and picked the transgresser off the ground with a handful of his jumper and was just lining his fist up with this guys chin when he becomes aware of the umpire (Frank Vegona from memory) yelling "put him down Warren, Put him down". Warren turns around to Frank (all the while holding this guy two foot off the ground) and said "*!*!*!*! that did you see what he did to my little brother?" and Frank took a step backward and said "alright but only one punch"
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

He was just a little man but when he spoke everyone stopped and listened to what he said, even the head cases like John Sharp. Frank Vegona had authority.
