Players from oppo who are better than you gave them credit for.

Watching the snoozefest that was Saints v Baggers last night got me thinking about the topic of this thread. Jack Silvagni is a much better player than I gave him credit for, good size, good footy IQ and multi positional a bit like our own Bailey Williams, under rated but probably one of the first magnets on the board whenever available. Had a a think of others and came up with Zac Guthrie who looks twelve but plays tough and hard. Always wondered why Geelong kept playing him but has also turned into a key member of their back half. The other one is Charlie Comben at Norf. Probably more so because he was always injured but this bloke has been very good in a very poor side. Very athletic, strong overhead and good reader of the play, a bit like our own JOD. This is the bloke I would be chasing to support JOD and Busslinger and to replace the aging Jones and Lobb in our back end in the future.
    Any other under rated nominations?

I don't get to watch enough other games to add much.

However, I have always rated Silvagni and felt he was someone we should have chased when he was last out of contract.

I also like Keane at Adelaide.

Langford at Essendon has become a much better player than I thought he would.

Same here, Silvagni is a good enough player.

Not sure if he is underrated, but Gryan Miers for mine.

I like Charlie Comben, but man is he reckless with his body. Needs to learn how to protect himself. The way he plays is an accident waiting to happen. His like a cross between Lin Jong and Tom Williams.

Second Zach Guthrie. Never thought he’d become the reliable footy player he is. I think it might be hard for me to watch young Geelong players objectively, I always hope their duds!

Justin McInerny from the Swans is someone I underrated what he brings that side.

Jack Silvagni is a good shout. I always had him tabbed as a nepo baby legacy hire that wouldn’t get a game anywhere else but he’s been fantastic this season.

I really like Tom Brown at Richmond and think of all their kids he’s the most likely to make it to the next level.

12 months back it was Hayden McLean from the Swans. Handy tall forward and someone who provided a decent level as a relief ruckman.
Worpel was someone I never rated until this season.

Tom Atkins at Geelong - arguably their best midfielder.
                      Miles Bergman at Port

Not oppo but I was genuinely surprised at how good Joel Freijah is the 1st time I saw him live this year. He didn't play in the games I went to last season.

He has a massive tank but he butchers the ball a lot by foot.

Good call on Zach Guthrie. I had him pegged as the typical dud brother but he is as reliable as Tom Stewart down back these days.

I'm going to add Darcy Cameron to the list. Very mobile for his size and has a very good set of hands above his head and rarely double grabs anything. Brilliant Moneyball pick up by the filth, cost them a third rounder if I remember correctly.

I can't remember, did he kick a bag against us?

Has kicked 4 against Melbourne and 3 against North a couple of times. Aside from that it seems 2 is his max
