    The Monday Soapbox - R10, 2025

Lets hear what you want to get on your soapbox about?
Umpiring or something Kane Cornes said? The floor is yours.

I'll go back to something I mentioned yesterday.
In what Universe does Brad Scott have a coaching job for next season and Luke Beveridge currently does not?

Could say the same thing that 700 players have a contract for next year, but the Bont dont have one! Need to sort that out before it becomes a bigger talking point

This difference being that apparently Bevo hasn't had a firm offer put in front of him whereas Bont has and he is mulling it over.
Bont's playing somewhere next season and I'd argue the odds are 98% in our favor while Bevo has stated a couple of times it's either coaching us or coaching no one.

Whatever the logic it's had to see why Essendon is chips in with Scott and we are in a holding pattern with Luke. Perhaps after the bye we might get

My soapbox which has been for a long time is the struggle to get supporters to buy their membership before the season starts instead of the waiting game to see how we are going. We then get desperate and have silly offers like 6 for $66. That helps the numbers but not the revenue.

So I suppose it opens the question around it the club should special memberships other than the traditional SEN day? Once the season starts it's not really the right way to go.,
I sort of get why they do it but it does cheapen the value of memberships for many people.
I'm with Axe Man in that the total memberships numbers are somewhat irrelevant so these massive reductions in membership prices just to help hit an aspirational target are more more or less a distraction.

The more the club does this strategy then more members will take a wait and see approach.

Gee whiz. We are getting some positive praise in all parts of the media.

Hopefully we don't believe in our own hype. We need another big focus this week against an incredibly well drilled football team on their own ground.

Yes that is the fear, the wait and see approach.

We have earned the praise and sit No 1 in a host of categories around stoppage and scoring.

The team should embrace and be determined to maintain the ranking.
