Is two games in Sydney on the same day a bit of a strange piece of scheduling?

I’m virtually certain the schedule was done by AI this year. Seems to be no consideration of travel, viewership, attendance or rest days at all.

I reckon AI would make a better fist of it.
        Josie :)

        Our day will come
        And we'll have everything.
        We'll share the joy
        Just like '54 again.

Only 2 games in Melbourne is a bit odd.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

An AI would do better. Hell, a 19 year old half way through a university programming course could do better. It's literally the sort of stuff computers were invented to be able to do.

Excel has a solver function where you set a cell as being a given input to a formula, tell it your desired outcome, and it runs a series of test inputs to that cell until it finds an answer that gives you the closest result to said outcome.
I doubt you could do it in Excel, but in a more advanced piece of software (my mind goes to the financial modelling stuff I used in uni, or failing that someone could just write a program) it wouldn't be a hard task to input all the teams' home grounds, distances between them, available timeslots, and then ask it to generate fixtures, conditioned on all the other requirements (need to have everyone play each other at least once, limited 5-day breaks, other funny stuff like Anzac day needing to be Pies/Bombers &c). Then, have it keep generating fixtures until it finds one that optimises some sort of "best fixture" formula - whether that be total crowd sizes, minimum travel requirements, ideally some sort of fairness metric.

They decided six months ago that the AFLW would overlap with the end of the mens', yet its come out today that they still haven't finalised that fixture - and three weeks ago they still hadn't worked out how this overlap was supposed to work. At best, there's an astounding lack of planning being put into it.

Although this is the same bunch of geniuses that had to issue three separate statements about the Lachie Schultz incident a couple weeks back, so I guess we can't be too surprised...

Good game between the Lions and the Bombers.
if Essendon win they are on top of us on the table. Can you believe that?

Lions finished when it counted. Wish we had Lohmann.

Aside Pies v Hawks and GC v Freo, on paper at least the rest of the games look dour. Little to get excited about.

Brisbane v Essendon was a better game than expected, but I think the Friday night game could actually go the other way and be pretty one-sided.

Thank god we only have to wait till Thursday- hopefully I am proved wrong, but this may just be the worst round to *not* be playing IMO. Fingers crossed it ends up of those rounds that completely buck that trend and ends up being upsets galore and epic finishes.

Good game of footy unfolding at the ‘G.

Collingwood are just so well organised and efficient.

Collingwood well on top. There game is just in great order. Going to be tough to beat at the G. The Hollywood Hawks have lost their spark.

Good game last night against the Lions and Bombers. Bombers did very well to give themselves a chance to win considering all their outs.

Other than their big loss round one, their other loss was against Geelong by 3points . In their wins we were the closest by 6 points without Bont, Adz, Marra plus the umpiring schomozzle of 33 frees to our 14.

As for Hawks, good news for us. Hopefully we smash them next week

Yep absolutely. The Hawks are ripe for the picking right now so I just hope we take of advantage of that. I give us very chance to at Marvel.

Freo beating GC is a bit of a surprise. Kinda helps our top 4 chances if we string some wins together.
