    Road Trip: Brisbane

    Hey all,

I am looking to get to the Brisbane game and was hoping for a bit of inside knowledge on all the stuff you wish you would have known before going to a Brisbane game for the first time.

Where in the ground is best to sit?
    Where to stay?
    Where to eat?
    Where to drink?
    Transport?
    What else to do?
    Official club/supporter group functions?

Any kind of tips from our QLD locals or things people have picked up along the way.

I started one of these for Gather Round and I think it would be kinda handy to have a "Road Trip" thread for each state that can be added to each year.

TIA to any help for a Brisbane noob here.

I will be in NSW for business travel next week and will take the opportunity on the way home to head to the game against the Swans at the SCG.

I'll be heading to the game solo so was wondering if any Woofer's were also going and maybe we can catch up?

Norman Hotel - Brisbane's Worst Vegetarian Restaurant or The Pineapple Hotel - Serving up the Good Times since 1864! For a feed but they will be busy game day but both are a couple of blocks from the Gabba.
Mid tier would my choice and parking isn't the best so taxi, ubber or bus would be the better option. Can't help with the rest.

Hey apologies The Adelaide Connection, I only just saw your post here., not sure if you're still seeking info. If so, I'll post some thoughts tomorrow evening when I'm next online.
In short in and around the GABBA there will be loads of food, entertainment and hotel options.
Another area is around the SouthBank area. Both of these areas are easily accessible to the bus network and in and around the GABBA is within walking distance to the ground.
I'll post more info and specific details tomorrow evening if you're still interested. I will have a chat to some workmates when I head into the Brisbane city office tomorrow.

About a 10-15 drive from the Gabba you'll find the awesome Breakfast Creek Hotel, amazing steaks and great place to drink with big screens (NRL and AFL) all over, plenty of busses to get to the Gabba and as Hotdog60 mentioned, the Pineapple and Normal are close by. Myself and the Missus will be in section 213 behind the goals.

BTW, you'll need winter clothes for Brissy, once winter hits the humidity goes away (thank %$@#) but can get quite fresh from 6pm till 8am, we are a 25 minute or so drive from the Gabba and had a -0.4c (feels like -2.5c) morning last week but is usually nice during the day, this being a Friday night game.

Do you still get free Public Transport to the ground by showing your entry ticket?

You sure do although i can't remember the last time i actually needed to show my ticket, they can see you're wearing footy clothing, i drive to one of the large Bus stations which have free shuttle busses to the Gabba which i'll also be using for day 2 of the upcoming Ashes.

The trip was planned a while back, well before the fixture was released, but given I land from regional NSW into Sydney just before 6pm it sort of makes sense to head straight to the SCG rather than jump on a flight to Melbourne, doesn't it?
