This is the time of year when we start rooting for teams we hate, like Carlton to win.

We need the T&T who to root for thread.

Some tricky roots this week with teams around us playing each other:
        Freo v Hawks
        GWS v Cats

Would be nice if Carlton could beat the Lions (no chance) and Pies beat GCS.

They were going much better this time last year, profile-wise, but not W/L.
Writing is on the wall, though, for them to explode, beyond the numbers, I would have them much higher personally.
Right now, they 5th seed, purely based on the data.

Carlton have relied on suspicious funds and dodgy benefactors so long they wouldn't know how to build a club the honest way.

Geez Carlton have declined individually and collectively. Putting aside our hatred for them, their next move will be interesting. Do they blow it up and start again, or go for a refresh?

I have no idea why they continue with Docherty. Great story but he should have retired 2 years ago.

There's a few sides in similar positions - Saints, Dees, Blues, Port and Dons are going nowhere.

On the other hand, Lions still look the best in it IMO.

I think Essendon are on the right track with a lot of potential. They have over 14 players with injuries and have had to play young players. 4 have been nominated for rising star so there is something there.

As the article about Freijah last week inferred, it's a lot easier to get a rising star nom when you're at a big Melbourne club. Caddy and Roberts have been good, but Clarke played one good game and Kako hasn't been much better than Dolan.

Still no decent mids coming through, Reid looks alright in defence, but really they're just filling some spots on the periphery. Durham is a fighter but not a matchwinner. Merrett has obviously given up on success for the lucrative Essendon one-club job offers post retirement.

Long may they wallow in mediocrity. Hate em.

Huge round - depending on results we could be anywhere from 3rd to 9th by Saturday night.

Early call but suns are playing to the stakes that the ladder dictates. Winning all the 50/50s and I would be surprised if pies won this.

Good time to get them I reckon, hope I’m wrong.

Imagine if Darcy got the free kicks Ben King does. He’d kick 10 a game.
