We needed to win 4 in a row after last night and we still need to win 4 in a row to make it. Up to us whether or not we are good enough, and we'll find out in 5 days time.

You have to take your hat off to GC, no Miller and Rioli and they have gone total beast mode out of the middle.

Yep.... if we get to 15wins we are going to be dreadfully unlucky not to make it.

Gives you the shits that we've been in every game we've lost and haven't been able to snatch one when most teams above us have put in at least one or two ****ing stinkers.

Some of our "close" losses have been really poor. Hawthorn and Adelaide matches, even Geelong where our last 8 minutes was putrid. Brisbane last week was plucky by us but we were lucky to be as close as we were.

Right now we are 9th and exactly where we deserve to be. We can definitely change that narrative, starting on Thursday. We just need to control what we can control, and the end result of the season will take care of itself. It would be almost statically impossible to win all 4 and miss out - there are enough games between the contenders where one of them ends up on 15 wins as well, and we have them covered for percentage if we fulfil our end of the bargain.

Eagles 30pts down with a quarter to go. It's about time we had a result go our way. I am a "Prisoner of Hope".

Freo did their heavy lifting the last 2 weeks - they are home and hosed for finals. In fact, their place will most likely already be secured before they play us in R24.

We have nothing to focus on except GWS. No excuses.

I guess Brisbane could upset them in Perth, not sure i trust Freo yet.

There’s been some bad rounds of football this year. But holy hell, this one’s gonna take some beating. Uncompetitive dross everywhere

The beatings handed out really highlight the league is basically has too many noncompetitive teams.

Are there too many teams and not enough talented players that area spread amongst them?

Bringing in the Tassie Devils will further increase the non-competitiveness of the competition. There aren’t enough quality players in the league at present. It is embarrassing to see a competition so lopsided. Even a team like Port who have some quality are just complete dross as well.

North has a number of good prospects, Richmond has chosen a path to recover but it comes with pain, Essendon has had a massive injury list and West Coast have some how imploded.
There appears to be enough talent but clubs sometimes get it wrong.

I think that is spot on, we all know clubs in a development phase like North, West Coast and Richmond will have quite a lot of younger talent who show some real class from time to time, but they'll fade as the season rolls along, first time around this season we beat North by only 16 points, Richmond beat the Suns, Carlton beat Geelong, Essendon beat Sydney, North & Lions had a draw etc etc all earlier in the season, with clubs if they get it right with recruiting should have a list with a quite few elite A graders, a stack of B graders and C-D grade depth, so i think it's more to do with club lists as opposed to the spread of players across the board, mid season drafts and rookie drafts also suggest there are quite a few good players out there not recruited through the National Draft.

One suggestion was put on radio the other day around freeing up space around the contest with playing 16 players on field rather than 18, that could also cut list sizes, and if clubs have a load of injuries ala Essendon right now they simply pluck players from their VFL list, or another suggestion could be if clubs didn't want to expose too many 18 year olds to try and even things up they could also play VFL listed players from their clubs, with us for instance if we were in that position, instead of exposing Walker, Kennedy, Croft etc if they weren't ready, play Cooper-Craig Peters or Lewis or Crofts as an example.

Port needed everything to go right against the Crows- getting hands on the ball first and kicking the ball 60m the wrong way to Fogarty is not exactly the first "clearance" they wanted.

Thought when the game was in the balance and they had the momentum they were dreadfully unlucky. Disallowed goal that went against them and constant favourable umpiring to the "home" Crows just didn't help. Once Adelaide got out by arms length Port just capitulated.

On a side note, I don't remember rain that heavy, for that long in a game of Footy forever. It was almost biblical.

Barrett doesn't understand "Sliding Door" moments, so I will help him here- the biggest sliding door moment was when Brisbane kicked 600 points in the last quarter to hand the Crows the win. This keeps them in the 8, gives them a bit of belief and they build some pretty runaway momentum. In ensuing weeks they beat us and GC. Now they sit top (with the Pies game to come) and are in the box seat for a top 2 finish.

On the flip side we lose to them and Brisbane and find ourselves in a position where 15 wins may not even equal finals.
