    Bruce McAvaney

Bruce McAvaney was overexposed but I rate his call of our premiership, accurate, perceptive and as always enthusiastic.
    Wikipedia:
When asked between 2018 and 2024 to ponder the greatest and most memorable calls of his career, according to his own estimation, McAvaney has specifically cited—in addition to his various callings of AFL grand finals, specifically highlighting the 2016 AFL Grand Final as his favourite Australian rules football call, his last co-commentary duty with Dennis Cometti—his calling of Cathy Freeman's gold medal in the 400 metres at the 2000 Olympics, Winx's third Cox Plate, Usain Bolt's multiple performances at the 2008 Olympics, Carl Lewis's win at the 1991 World Championships and 1992 Olympics, and Makybe Diva's history-making third-consecutive Melbourne Cup victory.

Bruce was excellent until the mid 90's. Then he descended into parody (that's being kind).

If you want to hear peak Bruce, listen to his call of the Kolyniuk goal against the filth in 1990 when he ran around Graeme Wright. Was a perfect call.

        Always liked Bruce.

Went a little pear shaped, but I like he and Cometti finished with calling our Premiership.

I was not a fan of Bruce he was the one who started talking about players private lives during calls, eg who their relatives were , what they ate for breakfast , how many shits they had during the week, which I think lead to what happens now with 90% of media is about players private lives and harrasing them .
I am a football lover not a gossip hunter .
Just call the football and write about football . The AFL has dropped its standards into making football like a home and away episode . Do we need to see Rankine catching a plane ? Do we need to see reporters bailing up Ginninvan as he walks to a car ?
It’s gutter journalism just concentrate on the game and actual football .
