Yup it sure looks like a total rebuild , 11 players gone , the most noteable , Petracca , Oliver , Spargo , and McVee , thats a fair chunk of experiance and talent , they will struggle .
Petracca in particular will be missed , and i think Oliver was just starting to find form and thats close to 50 odd disposals a game between the two of them , which no side can replace .

For those questioning why we didn't bring in Steven May, reason 57:

AFL stars Dion Prestia and Steven May among those charged over Boxing Day brawl at Sorrento

Three men, including star footballers Dion Prestia and Steven May, have been charged over a Boxing Bay brawl at Sorrento which left AFL stars under investigation.

Two men were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the alleged confrontation, which began outside the Continental Hotel on December 26.

The Herald Sun first revealed in December that star footballers May and Prestia had been caught up in the late-night fracas at the popular Peninsula pub.

Football sources confirmed to this masthead the AFL duo was among a group which had been caught up in friction, which was believed to be sparked by another party harassing their group about 2am.

However, at the time a spokeswoman for Richmond said Prestia was “in no way” involved.

“Prestia saw it happening but in no way was he involved. They weren’t involved in any physical altercation,” they said.

Melbourne Football Club, who May plays for, declined to comment at the time.

But Richmond Football Club in a statement on Thursday confirmed that Victoria Police had charged Prestia in relation to an incident in December 2024.

“Dion strenuously denies any wrongdoing and will defend himself accordingly,” the statement said.

“As with any member of the community, he is entitled to the presumption of innocence.

“The Club will continue to support him as the legal process takes its course. He will return to pre-season training next month.

“As the matter is now before the courts, the Club will not be making any further comment.”

Prestia said: “I have today been charged with the offence of recklessly causing serious injury as a result of an altercation that apparently took place on Boxing Day 2024 at Sorrento.

“I was not involved in the fight. I was not even physically present when it apparently took place. I deny that I am guilty of these offences and will strenuously defend these charges.

As I have now been charged, it would be inappropriate for me to say anything further.”

Detectives interviewed three men in May as part of their investigation.

A 26-year-old Blairgowrie man has been charged on summons with affray and will appear before the Dromana Magistrates’ Court on 20 October.

A 33-year-old Hawthorn man has been charged on summons with recklessly cause serious injury, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury and affray.

A 33-year-old Mt Eliza man has been charged on summons with affray.

They will both appear before the Dromana Magistrates’ Court on 27 November.

Seems like Prestia is denying any wrong doing , where as May hasn't said a word about his involment , but it is interseting to note it does say in the article the AFL duo was among a group which had been caught up in friction, which was believed to be sparked by another party harassing their group about 2am.
So maybe the other group were mouthing off but AFL footballers should be use to that sort of thing and should be able to act appropriately , but in this instance it appears the AFL duo let their fists do the talking .
After two years of the Smith and Marra saga's , the club didn't need another year of crossing their fingers May stayed in line , if indeed we did recruited him , we need to concertrate on our players the one's that want to be there , the ones that want to succeed, not have to worry about players we bring in that have a propensity to go off the rails .

I'll never understand why we didn't start the 2021 GF with the entire F50 completely open Pagan's Paddock style with only Naughts and May in there - one sharp lead in the first 5 mins by Naughts would have ripped May's hamstring off the bone.
