Watson re Daniher on SEN this morning:

“I think he’s definitely going and absolutely think that based on all the feedback I got yesterday, I think he’ll land up at Brisbane and they’ve been talking to him for some time.”

Why they needed to offer him that long is beyond me. He probably argued for time over dollars, which kind of proves your point. Nice 4 or 5 years in the sun.

Essendon could have had 2 early first rounders for him last year. Now they'll end up with a pick in the late teens at best.

Reported on Footy Classified that the saints are going hard at Tim Taranto. He’s under contract for two more years so not sure how they get that done but the saints aren’t gonna die wondering with their trading.

I admire how hard the Saints are going.
Taranto is a rolled gold A grader and if he leaves GWS would be in a world of hurt - they've clearly made keeping him a priority over a host of other players. It would send a massive message to the group.

Saints would have to give up a king's ransom to get Taranto, at least 2 first rounders would be market value. I'd also be asking for Rowan Marshall to be included in the deal if I was GWS.

                    Can't see it happening.

Fantasia gone too. All that posturing for a token win that not only cost you picks, but effectively two years of development into guys that will be on the list in 2021.

The 3 clubs comment isn't a reflection on him it's more about your call that he needs to be coached.
So given he has been at 3 clubs I'm backing he would have heard it from a few different voices over his career, the fact that there doesn't appear to be a lot of improvement goes to my point that some players will nod the head and say 'Yes Coach' but quickly revert back to their old ways. It's all a bit of a guess from me but if I was earning big money like some of the players I'd try and do my best to address the observations being made by the coach. We all have to adapt and be prepared to change

North who have performed poorly this year dropped him so he would be very aware of what he needs to work on. The message should be loud and clear. He's got a heap of talent and could be a good fit for another side if North aren't going to play him
So, last year he finished 7th in North's B&F.
The year before he finished 5th in Port's B&F.

Who votes for the B&F? Match committee...so please don't say that what he has been doing on the field has been against the wishes of the coaching panel since the only evidence we have says that simply isn't true.

Something has changed. And given that, is there any wonder that when his game style was 'suddenly' challenged - and yes, I mean suddenly since he was top 10 B&F just last season - that an experienced player with a history of success playing a 'certain' way pushed back on the messenger.

This is a relationship based decision. North have done a poor job managing this player and now are looking to exit him from the club?
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Maybe Shaw coming from that Sydney system expects more rounded players at a guess? The change is clearly the coach.

                            But...

Shaw coached North for a nice block of games last year. He *SHOULD* have done something then if it was important to him but (projecting here) was more interested in positive results that led to his senior coaching appointment than whether or not each of his players were toeing the party line. Is it any wonder that this has gone wrong?

I'm quite obviously in the minority here but to me North got EXACTLY the player they recruited. And now they don't like it? Well, that's just dumb.

You could argue that we didn't get the player we recruited this year in Josh Bruce but our MC has done everything within their power to support him and give him opportunity - too far at times if you ask me - but to me that is the fundamental difference between where we are at and where North (a traditional battler like us) is at right now...everyone on the boat at least SEEMS to be pulling in the same direction. Whether or not that results in a win on Saturday against a Saints team that seems equally unified remains to be seen.

I don't know. With Polec I just don't understand the criticism of the player - he is what he always has been and THAT is the player they went out and targeted. You can't start crying about a car only having two doors if that is the car you inquired about, test drove and purchased...
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

But if you realise you made a blue in buying the 2 door coupe when now find yourself actually needing a rugged 4x4 to pull you through the mud you find yourself in, is there any point trying to drive through the muck with the coupe or get what you can for it?

Well - then you have a massive problem...cos the coupe lost 30% of it's value the second you drove it off the show-room floor...so don't buy stuff that doesn't suit your needs.

(Of course, I am assuming you are talking about Polec and not about Josh Bruce!)
