AFL doubles mandatory break under strict new concussion protocols

    link

THE AFL has doubled its mandatory time out of the game for a player who suffers a concussion, with at least 12 days needed before they can take the field again.

The 12-day return to play protocol was confirmed by the League on Thursday and is an increase on the previous six days required under the 2020 guidelines as the AFL adds further protection for players.

This is a good change, al though I can't wait until someone like Tom Lynch goes down with "Head trauma....definitely not a concussion" in this years Prelim so he can play the following week.

I've long thought this would be a responsible policy for our club to make regardless of AFL rules, frequently I have noticed that when a player is concussed they very rarely play a good game the next week anyway. If a small change like this can help prevent situations like Liam Pickens or Koby Stevens developing then that is a very good thing.
I should leave it alone but you're not right
