Didn’t Beveridge also prove this in 2015&16?

2015 and 2016 his mantra was one solider out; one solider in.

Last few years injury this; injury that; continuity blah blah blah.

It really grinds my gears he is verbalising excuses publicly. Even if they are real.

I really hope in 2023 he changes his language and is a lot more positive.

The one soldier out one soldier in worked in 2015/2016 because we had the soldiers. This year we didn't really have them as the younger guys were not quite ready or the same quality as we had back then.

I think there is a tendency for coaches coming into a club to look at how they might exploit the rules or game style trends to gain an advantage. Most get off to a fast start and for Bevo when he arrived it was all about ball movement from the back line and handballs in the midfield.
After a few years coaches tend to fall into the trap of making excuses as other clubs work out how to combat the new trends.
Towards the end of this year some teams started employing taggers and run with players and it worked for them so it will be interesting to see which coaches modify their approach next season or stick with their set-ups.

Look at when Rocket arrived at the Bulldogs, he embraced the automatic play on after a point was kicked to great effect which resulted in multiple coast to coast goals for us until other clubs worked out to curb it.
By the end of his tenure he struggled with how to use the subs and to curb the forward press.

Coaches need to keep reinventing themselves as what worked 2 years back probably doesn't work as well now.

I viewed it on TV with my old Collingwood mate.
He said " not this year for the Pies but Dogs are looking good". It ended up being the loss they had to have.

We sure did but before they went on that impressive winning streak.
I do believe we have a better playing list but Collingwood is playing some very good football at the moment.
I didn't have them in the top 8 this year.

Maynard, Mihocek, De Goey, Elliot, Darcy (one of the best across all sides I think), 2 Daicos boys, evergreens Sidebottom and Pendlebury plus some emerging young guns like McCreery, Johnson, Ginnivan across each line. I’m not so sure our list is better. Perhaps equal but they are a better balanced side with more speed and possibly fitter too.

"...and possibly fitter too" well said, an issue for us with injuries.

So does that favour the Cats or the Lions?

The Cats do like to move it around cleanly by foot. Good disrupt that.
                            Plus Stewart's intercept marking.
I've got a feeling they're going to choke.

They are a little short in the forward line, but yes they are balanced. Midfield also not that strong.

A good summation. Far better depth than we have at the moment highlighted by a strong defence. Change of Coach to Craig McRae has rejuvenated the Club.
