Trade Ins in The Bevo Era

Trade Ins (inc. FA) in The Bevo Era:

    B: Duryea Keath Jones
    HB: TOB Trengove Hamling
    C: Suckling Crozier Baker
    HF: Lloyd Bruce Hannan
    F: Schache Cloke Lobb
    R: Martin Treloar Adcock

    ? ?

Well. Probably enough said. Just don’t seem to get the talent.

Doc has played important toles at times. Win.
Keath has also had some good times and 2021 was a stand out. Win.
Jones. Win on 2023. Can he sustain it?
Crozier. Again, at times he has been OK, but has been the difference. Bust.
Suckling. Would be a Premiership player with the Dogs if he didn't get inured. Win.
Treloar. Win. Especially with his wage being partly paid by the Pies..
    Baker. Need more time.
    Lloyd. Bust.
    Bruce. Unlucky with injury. Bust.
    Hannan. Bust.
    Scache. Bust.
Cloke. Bust. If he Zeibell didn't rearrange his ribs, maybe could have had an impact.
    Lobb. Need more time.
    Martin. Bust.
    Adcock. Bust.

Stef Martin was the best needs-based trade of the lot, just 2 years too late. It very nearly worked in any event.

We have never played better, or been more dangerous structurally for the opposition, since 2016 than Stef 1st ruck and English 2nd ruck/forward in early 2021.

Agree. Great point. Unforunately his body was broken and he could not sustain it.

Lloyd wasn't a bust he was a handy pickup but just couldn't sustain it beyond a year. We paid nothing IIRC and got a good year from an older player so not the worst trade we've done at all.

We are splitting hairs over some of these guys. aside from a handfull , most have not given us what we needed and in some cases have robbed a youger player of opportunity

Re: Trade Ins in The Bevo Era

Honestly, it’s a reasonable list with a few good role players and a few players with star quality if not AA level players. Some we’ve taken in the twilight of their careers and others we’ve got more out of.

The key is the timing of these things. You need to get your windows lined up so your recruitment complements the list at a point in time and is a difference maker. We’ve done this better at times, however that is the art. If you get the timing right one or two good years can be the difference in a flag or no flag.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Lloyd and Bruce both had seasons as leading goalkickers so they did their job in my eyes.

If Bruce didn't get injured he probably kicks 50+, we finish top 4 and who knows what happens. Can't say he's a bust in my eyes.

Nah, not crediting 2014. I suspect he didn’t have much input into the Shocktober stuff.

I'd like to see us roll the dice on some younger players from other clubs.

I was keen on Ambrosio, and Hollands can play too.

These are the types I'd prefer we target vs Harmes/O'Brien etc.

Coffield was worth a shot, hopefully he comes good.

                              Any particular players?

I wonder if a couple of the hawks key defender might be gettable with Barras and Battle coming in. Jai Serong is playing tonight as a young key defender and James Blanck who was preferred over Sam Frost before his ACL.
More of an In Bruges guy?
