I'm sure that I am not the only one who thought at the time that there was more to this story.....as much as i dislike the player involved we should not jump to any conclusions. I hope that the Police now involved can bring more light on the subject. I feel for the woman involved as she now has to go through this all again!

I didn't hear the actual interview but last night Finey on SEN indicated that the cop kept on referring to the case as the Milne case and not the Milne and Montanga case. Is that true?

Yeah ...and from what is in the feral this morning the only involvement of Montagna was as a witness (albeit unwilling)

Appears that Mick Malthouse may have known more than we thought about Tiprat.

Police admit that former cop who alleges Stephen Milne rape charge case collapsed amid threats made complaint years ago

Stephen McMahon & Elissa Hunt - Herald Sun - 22 June

UPDATE 10.15am: POLICE now admit the lead investigator of a Saints rape charge did complain about interference by senior police before making his concerns public yesterday.

Former detective Sen-Det Scott Gladman claims that a 2004 rape charge against Saints star Stephen Milne collapsed amid a campaign of threats and intimidation from inside Victoria Police and by powerful club backers.

And in an embarrassing backflip, just hours after releasing an official statement that Sen-Det Gladman had never made a complaint, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Crime Steve Fontana has revealed concerns were raised with an unnamed assistant commissioner six years ago about interference in the investigation.

I think it is important to take note that in all this the policeman isn't saying that Milne would have been charged if there was no outside interference.

In February 2003, Mr Overland became Assistant Commissioner Crime in Victoria Police where he developed and drove the Organised Crime strategy

He was appointed as Deputy Commissioner in July 2006 and was awarded the Australian Police Medal in the Australia Day honours of 2007.

Very interesting article from a few years ago. This court case did not make big news and the sexual assault was never investigated by the AFL.

A couple of conclusions can be drawn when you read it.
