Power will hit back: AFL boss

How did we miss this one?

    Ashley Porter, Adelaide
    August 23, 2011

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou gave the battered Port Adelaide fans some heart yesterday by praising the club's young players.

''You watch the game - and I might be wrong about this - but over the last three quarters Port Adelaide really matched it with the Bulldogs,'' Demetriou said.

''I think it was 63 to zero and they only lost by 60 points, so for three quarters they matched the Bulldogs, which is a pretty good effort.

''They [Port players] were a bunch of young lads playing that game who have been thrown to the wolves. The Bulldogs are a very good team. It is time to look forward about the Port Adelaide Football Club and not to look back.''

The AFL has reassured Port Adelaide it has a place in the competition.

Did AD miss the fact that we had 'sacked' our coach just 4 days before this game because we have had a poor year and had a bunch of kids running around?

Read this in the morning and couldn't be bothered putting it up. We had 10 players with less than 25 games on the weekend and another 5 with less than 50 whereas Port had 9 all up below 50. Our average age was lower than Ports and he calls them a young side.

        He never seizes to amaze.
