Re: Round 12 - Other Matches
The end result is it is almost impossible to spoil someone taller than you. Heading towards 7 footers like in basketball.Comment

Re: Round 12 - Other Matches
Not really. If two players are going for the ball, one trying to mark the ball, the other trying to spoil by punching but the defender in their action hits the arm of his opponent then why should they get punished? The holding the arm is preventing the opponent in even marking the ball at all and there is no intention to directly spoil. I know you are going to say the defender may look like he is trying to punch the ball but all along he is deliberately chopping arms. I say too bad.

Re: Round 12 - Other Matches
I understand your point, but the free Judd gave away was a blatant chop/ drag of the arm and this type of disgression should be picked up and punished every time.Comment

Best Point I think I've ever seen.
He is unbelievable, is there another Ruckman in the league that could pull that off?
(sorry forget how to embed it into the forum)
Though, I must say I don't think I've ever seen so many highlights of a player doing average things. Channel 7 continually show highlights of him jumping high, tapping the ball to nobody and missing targets athletically.
Imagine how the hype will be when he actually starts converting on his athleticism. It will be pretty good to watch.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

Re: Round 12 - Other Matches
The difference should lie in the end result, as it does in Soccer. If you get the ball with the spoil then there's no free. That doesn't happen. If you get nowhere near the ball but still take the arms out IMO that should be a free, I don't see it as being any different to pushing your opponent out or holding his arm.

I think holding and dragging are distinct from hitting, and should be punished accordingly. A genuine attempt to spoil might result in an arm being hit, that's football, and good players are strong enough to cope with it.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

That is what I am saying, yet hitting the arms is a free kick.FFC: Established 1883

And it shouldn't be provided that you get the ball IMO. If you don't, whether or not you were intending to legitimately spoil, I believe you are unfairly impeding the player trying to take a mark.Comment

Just listening to a very impressive GWS.
Cameron and Patton are going to cause major major headaches.
Incredible contrast to the other New Franchise, they're harder and tougher than the Suns.
Ward seemed to have a quiet one, but got a few in the last.
That compensation we got compared to Melb is outrageous, to say the leastComment

Thanks for the compliment jeemak and westdog54. Gold Coast v North match looks pretty poor and not much atmosphere. North I would say should win. Gold Coast have been terrible this season."Footscray people are incredible people; so humble. I'm just so happy - ecstatic"Comment
