Re: Life of Brian
Not true, I watched the game very closely, Brian killed Pav in the first half, then Pav got the softest free kick since Riewoldt in '09 (goal) and a dinky handball over the top in the goal square. There's not a defender in the competition who could have stopped either of those two goals. Pav had some influential touches thereafter but Gibson was moved onto him after his second goal so Brian's not to blame there. The only goal he legitimately conceded was in the last at the top of the goal square after Barlow's hurried kick forward.'And the Western suburbs erupt!'Comment

Re: Life of Brian
Also noteworthy is that Brian's new opponent for a lot of the second half after Pavlich was Zac Clarke, who was subbed out (incidentally one of the worst moves Ross Lyon could make because it let Brian loose).'And the Western suburbs erupt!'Comment

Re: Life of Brian
I'd forgotten about the salary and it's true that it would have been a contributing factor. To be honest I'm not all that upset about the trade, I think maybe it was fair considering what Brian offered to us at the stage of his career (not all that much), but considering what it gave Hawthorn? He was the difference today and we could have squeezed more out of that trade - we've got to be ruthless sometimes to get a result which is in our favour rather than just 'fair'.

Agree, Freo lost any semblance of structure.Comment

Re: Life of Brian
As for the ball movement you're right. Brian was born to play in tight finals, rushed high balls are his forté and they're oh so prevalent in the finals.'And the Western suburbs erupt!'Comment

Re: Life of Brian
Over it, good luck to Brian. He wouldn't have made any difference to our 2013 season and Hawthorn may not have it all there way next year. When we are challenging Brian will be retiring.Don't piss off old people

Waved my doggies member cap at Lake while he walked up to the stage for the later Hawks celebrations and he gave me a good smile and laugh. I still love him.Comment

Putting aside anything from the game, I must say the image of Brian's son running out onto the ground was by a fair margin the image of the day.Comment

Re: Life of Brian
Well done Brian, Im rapped for the guy.
He has not done anything wrong for either club and has put his heart & soul into the kennel. Invite the dogs over to have a beer Brian and let them know how it feels and how hard you need to work and sacrifice to earn the premiership.
It might shave a year or two off our own successBB.
Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.Comment

At the very least, the next time we sit down at the trade table with Hawthorn, we can expect a fair bit of grace.
Just hope Hrovat turns out well.Comment

Brian Lake winning a premiership and Norm Smith, despite the incredible indignity of him leaving us to get them, shows our players that we belong in a Grand Final and as winners. If he can we can.Footscray Football Republic.Comment
