Our midfield has to dominate this game, or it will get hideously ugly.

Collingwood players dropping like flies. Elliot a late withdrawal. Clinton Young comes in as emergency.

Pendles gites down in the warm up, Tony Armstrong kits up after a full VFL game and takes the green vest.

Ben Reid cops an injury in the first quarter. Poor Armstrong subbed into the game.

Now Beams had been carried off with a knee.

I also just read that Armstrong covered 14km in the VFL game and Reid goes off in the first four minutes.

Apparently Cloke also isn't playing due to injury.

Regardless of the injuries the wolves are already at Buckley's door - they will only get louder this week.

The Lions are a dangerous side because of the running ability and athleticism. The Pies might have copped a number of injuries but we shouldn't write off the effort by this Brisbane side.

Brisbane were very impressive, their run carry and dare a highlight.
They probably need to improve their defensive effort, but that will come with experience.

I have only seen Brisbane against us.

Are their taller players such as Close and McStay as good as their stats indicate? I see they had another tall debutant kick 4 tonight.

Richmond win their 7th in a row and are now very much in the hunt for a finals spot, but unless they can cause an upset and beat the Swans in their last game they will end up finishing 9th

You know, if GWS beat Collingwood next week (which isn't out if the question) or, God forbid, us, Melbourne will finish 2nd last again with 4 wins... Is Roosy still the Messiah??

One other thing, there's an article in Inside Football this week which points out the huge impact Daniel Cross has had on the Dees. It's apparently a 'cultural' thing that he's brought. Cross is a gem, but he got his 'culture' from Johnno, Boyd, Smith, Grant, Murphy, Gia etc. Dogs culture. We're miles ahead of them as a club and have never had the 'soulless' reputation that they have.

Finally, Sht Kilda sewed up their 27th wooden spoon today. TWENTY SEVENTH!!! They've won a spoon for every 4.4 years that they've been in the comp! As a comparison, we've won 4. Equal third least with Essendon. One more than Carlton and two less than Collingwood. For a smaller club, we've always had bottle!!
