    Jarryd Roughead.

He's just turned an AFL prelim on its head with 5 kicks inside 15 minutes. I ask the question, is Jarryd Roughead the most effective player on the competition?

He's not the most spectacular player but he never wastes a movement, almost never makes an error. Hawthorn might have made the right call taking him first.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

As far as big men go, I'd agree. Ablett is Ablett. If you believe Macca, Stringer & Bonts might take the title of them. While the club won't over pay for a big man, if we did, Roughead would be my first KPP preference.

If I was picking a player for a start up club to play next season then Roughead would be my target. He's not the best player but would be important to any side

Super versatile, can take a turn in the ruck, works up the ground and leads, marks and kicks as well as any forward. He's turned into a genuinely elite player no doubt.

He also at times starts in the centre square as a genuine midfielder.

Excellent player but until yesterday his record in finals has been very poor. Good to see him redress that omission from his CV yesterday.

Was talking about him on the train. He's justified his number 2 spot in that draft.

Rate him pretty highly, going to be massively important for them next weekend.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Great player. No frills or fanfare.

Was told today he never plays two good games in a row which seems a bit harsh. Next week will be tougher for him.

Love the way he goes about it, just a workman and doesn't give a rats about the fanfare.
Took a while for him to mature so hopefully our Roughy isn't far away.
By chance I was speaking to their Gran the other day and she said young Roughy loves it at the Dogs and is so keen for next season to come.

And I think Jarryd would pass the "good citizen" test also. Love the way he plays and seems like a ripping bloke too.

                            Re: Jarryd Roughead.

Saw our Roughy in town today, arm still in sling - very busy peak our pedestrian traffic Swanston St outside RMIT. We'd virtually passed each other when I realised who he was, and I said to him "wish you well with recovery Jarryd". He turned around and smiled.

Seems like a really nice bloke - he is ambassador for cheer squad and speaks very well too. Hope he returns to the pre-injury form next year, as well as sticking closer to his forward opp. than he did this year. Wonder if coaches think if he does not work out in backline that we try him again in forward line. He is one of our best marking players.

I'd be proud of him too, if he was my grandson.
